Installing on top of another Linux distro

Hi, I would like to use the lakka interface in my arch linux or ubuntu.

Is there a way to just have the interface part of lakka (the GUI) for installing? Libretro cores are already available in my distro repositories, I just need to know how to install the awesome lakka GUI, is there a package, or plans for packaging lakka as software only (without the OpenElec OS)?

I don’t understand. The Lakka interface is xmb, which is what is used by Retroarch on Linux too.

Right. Open RetroArch and go to settings > drivers and change the menu driver from RGUI or GLUI or whatever to XMB and it will look just like Lakka.

You can also do it via your retroarch.cfg config file. Change menu_driver to “xmb”

It worked. This should be better stated in the FAQ/Wiki of Lakka. As a new user trying to get Lakka, my first expectative to get Lakka interface was to get Lakka as a software package, not knowing that the GUI was simply XMB in Retroarch.

Thanks for the support and I hope you understand the suggestion.

If you would be willing to draft an outline of your use case and the process you used to install it, I think that could go into this wiki page:

I’m thinking there could be a new header, something like: Can Lakka be installed as a package in Linux?

It might start with something like:

While Lakka is a Linux distribution itself and cannot be installed into another installation per se, it is possible to create the same experience by installing RetroArch and the XMB interface from repositories. This process works in several Linux distributions, etc etc etc.

If you could get me the outline or key points I’ll be glad to copyedit and integrate the text. Or of course you’re invited to work with the docs directly if you prefer.
