Integrer Scale and FBA core neo (Neo Geo)

Hi,

I would like advice to set the FBA core Neo perfectly. My TV is 1080P. I set integrer scale ON and I use the shader CRT Royale Kurozomi What are the best settings for custom width and height, and custom viewport X and Y for this core ?

You don’t need to use custom viewport x and y unless you want to get rid of the black bars on the top and bottom. In that case you set the aspect ratio to custom and change the viewports until they match your screen. Seems like it makes things more blurry when you do this, so I just leave it on the correct aspect ratio (core provided or 4:3) and interger scale ON.

Thanks for your answer. Am I still in pixel perfect if for a neo geo game that has native resolution of 304x224, I put it in 320x224 (with custom resolution and integrer scale ON) ? If I set a multiple of 320x224 with custom resolution for all neo geo games, am I right ?

“Pixel Perfect”… I’m not sure how to exactly. I just assumed using the proper aspect ratio with integer scaling would scale it properly. They look pretty good like that, so I haven’t messed with a custom resolution. Maybe someone else knows.

You basically have these (sensible) choices: 4:3 (nominal aspect ratio of a CRT), config (which is probably 4:3) or 1:1 PAR. 1:1 PAR will be “pixel perfect” but might not look how you remember, since it would have been stretched to 4:3 in an arcade/CRT situation.

If you’re using nearest-neighbor scaling, you’ll get “pixel warping” on anything other than 1:1 PAR unless you use a shader, like pixellate, fast-bilinear or AANN, which will preserve the sharp look but soften edges where needed to avoid warping.
