Intel NUC5CPYH install

I am trying to install lakka to my nuc, model in the title. I put a brand new ssd in the nuc. When I run the installer it says no devices were found and it needs at least one partition. Now Ive formatted this ssd every way I know how on both linux and mac. It just doesnt detect it. Now this is where it really ticks me off. If I put the ssd into an external case and plug it into a usb port on the nuc, the installer sees it just fine and installs. Reboot and it runs fine that way.

Now Im starting to think something is wrong with my nuc or possibly a bios setting. Does anyone have any insight or suggestions? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Did you reproduce the issue with latest nightly ?

No I have not tried using the nightly build. I will give this one a try tonight when I get home.

Ok so my progress…With the nightly build it still does not see the installed ssd, it is showing up in the bios. I currently have lakka installed on it, I installed it while I had the ssd in a case and attached to a usb port(as my first post says). Now with it installed in the nuc, nothing. I did notice that if I boot the nuc with the usb that has the lakka installer in a usb port the ssd would boot. I know its the ssd because it has the roms on it I placed there yesterday. Now when I took the usb out and reboot I got this error.

***Error in mount_flash: mount_common: Could not mount LABEL=System ****

Starting debugging shell… type exit to quit

so I type exit and get another mount error, type exit, get another. Eventually it leads to freezing

Can you try to make a test with UUID instead of LABEL ?

Nope still the same issue. But following the direction in your link, I noticed in my bios I do not have an option for CSM mode, only AHCI, and Im on the latest bios update. Im starting to think its a bios issue.

Hi!

Have you tried switching to Legacy Mode? I have a different version of the Intel NUC (NUC5i7RYH, I doubt the UEFI-versions differ that much) and I had switch to Legacy Mode in the UEFI before being able to install, and run Lakka on a SSD in my computer.

Yes as you are not using efi image, you should enable legacy mode.

So still not working for me. I have the bios setup for legacy mode as suggested. I followed this guide, http://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/boards-and-kits/000005471.html , and used the steps for OpenElec. Still nothing, the ssd is recognized in bios but not by Lakka installer, i tried installing a different os, Ubuntu, and having the same issue. I’m starting to think its my NUC. I have a new one on order, trying a different model this time, and see what happens. I did try several different ssd too. At this point I put one of my ssd in a case and installed it connected to one of the usb ports. It boots and runs fine that way so I will stick with this till my new NUC arrives.

Thanks for everyones help on this, greatly appreciated.
