Is a read-only filesystem safe?

Hi! I´m currently working on a raspberry pi-base handheld console.

I want to use Lakka for it. And I have a question about what they say on their page: “A 300mb read-only filesystem you cannot break even with root access.” (http://www.lakka.tv/doc/Why-Lakka/)

Does this mean you can shut the power off anytime without corrupting the memory card?

I’ve had fewer corruption issues with Lakka than with other distros but it’s not bulletproof.

It’s still good practice to shutdown before cutting power.

Ok. Thank you for your reply!

I’ve found this guide on how to make a shutdown and startup switch: https://pie.8bitjunkie.net/retropie-shutdown-and-startup-switch-the-easy-way

But is it possible to make it work with lakka somehow?
