Job control turned off

Please bear with me, I’m quite the noob…

Attempting to install Lakka to an empty drive, for the sake of convenience, which I will then move into the box I’m building. After the boot screen, I meet with an error.

Error in mount_flash: mount_common: could not mount UUID=b675af34-d0fd-41c7-ab18-3dc594c13b84 Starting debugging shell… type exit to quit sh: can’t access tty; job control turned off

As far as I know, installing Lakka on a HD on one computer and then moving the HD to another can lead to the problems you are having. This applies to almost every non live OS.

I had a similar problem, the installer require one partition to be present on the drive to work.

It worked on my dedicated PC with only the blank drive. Thanks. So strange.

Sorry about the thread necro but I am having this issue as well. While attempting to install Lakka onto 2 devices. The first device I managed to get up and running though.

*** Error in mount_flash: mount_common: could not mount UUID=xxxxxx ***
### Starting debugging shell... type exit to quit ###
sh: can't access tty; job control turned off

While searching various topics on google, two things have stuck out to me.

  1. Use a USB 2.0 port instead of a USB 3.0 port - This was the issue with the laptop I was testing. Lakka installed like a dream.

  2. Bad media - But I already installed with this same usb drive and installation went perfect after I swapped to a 2.0 port.

I am currently trying to install to ASUS VivoPC-VM40B-02 and I am at a loss. I installed kodibuntu to just test the htpc and everything works great and I know the installation media is good.

Kinda banging my head atm so I am open to suggestions.

Thanks!

Same here. I downloaded the 64 bit pc (which I have run before with same hardware no problem) as an upgrade and started to get this message when I ran live.

I used two different usb that I have used before and 2 different computers I have used before…

Same message…

Ended up using one usb to install it on the other and ran it “live” like this…

It is working like a charm!

Has anyone else seen this message??

I keep getting it with different usbs on different computers…

Specifically the 64 bit PC version of lakka.

Once you boot it live it says

“Starting debugging shell… type exit to quit sh: can’t access tty; job control turned off”

Same message OP reports.

Anyone else getting this?

I had this issue, but tried a newer nightly build (e.g. http://sources.lakka.tv/nightly/Generic.x86_64/Lakka-Generic.x86_64-devel-20160308195456-r21363-g404a9cd.img.gz) and it worked ok, so it must be related to the specific build on the download page. Hope that helps.

Guys, I’m trying to install lakka on an HP Slate 2 x86 tablet and I have the same problem. Tried different USB drives, all the same. Changed the USB port, the same. Has anyone found a solution to this problem?
