I did a quick test and I felt this too, mostly in the menu. I Have not verified with FPS checks comparing with the stable release.
As a follow up, I did quick tests in the menu and got:
- RC4 gets 50 FPS on the RPi3, as expected, with very little variance (not extensively tested).
- The stable release (Christmas 2016) runs at around 55 FPS, sometimes gets to 60 and sometimes dips to 50.
This would explain the (minor) difference in perception for me. In conclusion, at least for me this is a non-issue.
i tested on x86 machine and it works, wha’s new in RC5?
RC5, raspberry Pi 3, No audio through HDMI. even with hdmi_drive=2 having the # removed. Also Handy runs like lightning. Not sure what to try next since the audio says it’s enabled in the settings once started up.
Yes, I have, it doesn’t list any available, going through SSH only lists Null.
It worked with the current setup previously with Dec2016 update.
Are you using NOOBS?
Nope, straight install. Lakka is the only thing on this SD card.
Did you upgrade from Dec 2016 install or did a fresh install?
Upgraded from the Dec 2016 using the tar file, also deleted the Retroarch.cfg to be sure, but to no avail.
OK, unzip the tar and copy the files like config.txt and distroconfig.txt on the first partition of the SD card.
Still no sound, but at least it lists that there is an asla option now. also for whatever reason when I try to change the audio device in the menu, it brings up the typing prompt. Is there anything more advanced I could try?
Also would the lack of sound cause the Handy emulator to run at hyper speed? I mean sure ms. pacman and roadblasters at ridiculous speeds are fun and all, but completely unplayable.
You need to use left and right arrows to change the device ID.
But having it to it’s default value (using Start) should be enough.
That alsa option was required.
i scanned Famicom Floppy disk system folder with rc5 and no list was generated. did something changed? (i was able to generate the list with stable openelec release)
No I mean It won’t switch left and right and will only change anything using the typing prompt. Is this a bug that should be reported to github or is this specific to the tar file? If so I will backup all my game stuff and redo the SD card with the clean install version.
I had that issue myself, some of my FDS games, though they were no-intro, didn’t scan. Really I just manually edited in the rest of the games into the playlist like I do for my playstation games since there were only two that didn’t scan. (excitebike FDS and Doki Doki Panic) While Super Mario Bros 2 FDS worked just fine as well as this oddball called All Night Nippon Super Mario Bros.
Okay, I’m going to go with that the tar upgrade caused this bug, because after starting fresh, new sd card and everything, I got audio and everything once all was said and done it worked like a charm. So Thank you Kivutar for your suggestions and help and same to Gouchi for all the hard work.
I never got the upgrade option (from 1.x to 2.0) to work. I copied the .tar file into the upgrade folder, and rebooted. All that happened was the Pi booted into Lakka 1.x and the upgrade folder was empty. In the end, I just backed up my flash card and reflashed it with the 2.0 stable image, then restored my ROMs and savefiles.
All good, except for a weird problem I have running PS1 games (which didn’t happen on Lakka 1.x):
