Lakka, standalone vs over Windows performance

Just wondering if anyone has compared the performance of Lakka as a standalone linux install, vs Lakka running over Windows. I’m about to build a mini pc on the new Ryzen APU platform and wondering if I can get away without Windows or if Windows will net me better performance.

I assume it’s pretty similar, but couldn’t find anyone actually running numbers. Has anyone tried this?

It depends. In Brunnis’ testing, the latency in linux+kms (like Lakka) is similar to Windows with hard GPU sync. AMD’s GL performance in Windows has not been great historically, but I think it’s okay, and the latest RetroArch nightlies have a brand new D3D11 driver, which should alleviate that issue.
