Looking for an adjustable horizontal filter

I’m using RA on a CRT TV with a custom resolution of 768x240. I’d like to control horizontal blurriness, something sublte and tweakable but I don’t find anything like this in the shader pack. Any ideas ?

Thanks !

crt/tvouttweaks.cgp is exactly what you’re looking for.

Thanks ! i’ll try it at once and i’ll give feedback

That’s’exaclty what i needed. Unfortunately it does’nt work with d3d drivers ( like many other shaders ) I have to use d3d because gl driver doesn’t support fullscreen resolution change.

I’m actually waiting on a converter box so I can play on a CRT TV, so this intrigues me a bit.

You mentioned that GL driver doesn’t support “Fullscreen Resolution change” Can you clarify this? I’m using GL drivers for everything in RetroArch, and it fullscreens (once I set aspect ratio) on all the monitors I’ve plugged it into.

I’ll be playing with this same shader too as soon as I can get this setup. (Part should arrive thursday)

Well on my TVs i need the resolution to change automatically from my desktop mode 768x576i 50hz to a lot of low res resolutions and frequencies ( especially for arcade games and their silly 55 or 57hz  ) By default RA uses the desktop resolution and stretches everything in fullscreen. On a modern configuration it’s suficient but not on a 15khz setup that won’t do since i need proper line accuracy to get beautiful scanlines There’s an option for that in de cfg file : video_windowed_fullscreen = “false” so i can specify manualy any supported resolution and RA will change it automatically when I start it. Several years ago there was no problem it worked fine with both gl and d3d without too much tweaking but nowadays I have to use d3d only and stretch and align the picture manually. The problem is that d3d doesn’t work with every shaders and i can’t tweak the parametter on the fly. :frowning: One solution would be to change the desktop resolution before starting RA but that wouldn’t be convenient.

Wich converter will you use ? I personnaly don’t have one I use an “old” PC with an HD4850 + soft 15khz + hacked scart cable.

Well I just bought this guy online after seeing someone use it in a youtube video: http://www.ebay.com/itm/231836120749?_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

It’s a dinky little thing, but should do the trick.

I’m not too familiar with the technical sides, but my understanding is the converter will automatically downscale the signal from HDMI 1080p to Composite 480i (I think). It has a toggle for Pal/Ntsc. So I’ll be using the NTSC 60hz variant, if my info is correct. Once I get that running, I’ll be picking up an RF modulator as well so I can get that staticy signal and be forced to change the TV to channel 3

Technically, I shouldn’t ‘have’ to change the desktop resolution to make it work… but I imagine the closer to the native signal, the better the video feed will be on the other end.

It’s just a little 13" VCR combo, so the picture isn’t going to be great anyway. Just more of a nostalgia kind of thing really. ( I had one as a kid )

Well so much for that plan. The stupid little box REFUSES to switch to NTSC. Even though there’s a slider for it. It just stays in PAL.

Completely useless…

Sorry to read that but this is not surprising…At least you didn’t pay much for it. Apparently living in the US is the hardest place to play retro games with rgb quality. It requires wether superskills in TV electronics or pay for expensive hardware like arcade or broadcast monitors. http://mikejmoffitt.com/articles/0032-tvrgb.html

It does seem to be much more popular across the pond in general. I’m not too worried about RGB quality though, I just wanted the Composite Yellow/White/Red, or even RF/Antenna. lol.

Stupid device was supposed to switch to NTSC, but doesn’t. I’ll come back to it, I KNOW it’s possible, I just really hoped this cheap adapter would do what was advertised.

It will probably be a while before I revisit this though… the ‘good’ adapters are like 50$. (this was like 10$)

Anyway, if you get yours up and running like you want, I’d love to see a picture or video or something.
