MAME on Lakka help

I’m trying to get MAME working with Lakka and I’ve read through all the documentation but it is not as clear with MAME as it is with the other emulators. Specifically I’m trying to get it working with games such as X-men Vs Street Fighter and the first Marvel Vs. Capcom games. I know they are available on Dreamcast but I suspect the MAME emulator to be more stable than Reicast at the moment. Unless I am wrong?

Do I need a bios in the system folder like other emulators? And what file types must the MAME files be? Thanks!

The MAME files need to be in zip format and generally don’t need anything in the BIOS/system directory. However, they need to come from a ROMset that matches the core’s version exactly. mame2003 is v078, mame2010 is v0139, mame2014 is v0157, mame-git is v0171. I know v0139 is pretty easy to find ROMs for online and it handles CPS1/2/3 just fine. I usually use FBA for those, though, and it’s in the same boat as the MAME cores (that is, needs specific ROMs to match the core version).

I’ve tried several different roms using every mame core I could find but still no luck. Won’t load and backs out to the lakka menu. I might just wait for the reicast core to be further developed to get my marvel vs capcom fix.

I just tried and mame2010 works with mvsc.zip with this md5sum: 9a8181286b0e510020ac761a142a85b7

That’s the version from the mame v0139 set, which should be readily available online in torrent form, as many mobile ports of MAME are based on this version.
