Mouse buttons on Amiga (P-UAE) core not working

Hi there,

I am just trying Lakka for the first time (so just booting from USB at the moment) to check it all works with my hardware etc before a full install. All good so far and it’s great how easy it is to configure. I know the Amiga core is experimental and bugs are expected, but I am having trouble getting mouse buttons to work, either in the GUI, at a workbench prompt or in-game. I am not too sure why this would be.

I have followed all advice I can find on the web and forums about creating a config file for each game (I used the Rick Dangerous one from github), and i’ve got games loading via a .uae file, i’ve also got HDF games loading with WHDLOAD which is great. Games which use a gamepad also seem to generally work without issue.

However, I can’t get the mouse buttons to work at all, and i’ve no idea why. This means if I need to use the GUI it’s tricky, and games like Cannon Fodder only work on the pad when Joystick is selected. The pointer is fine, I can move the mouse, and I can adjust the sensitivity no problem. It’s just neither the left or right button do anything at all.

Can anyone else replicate this, or are your mouse buttons working fine on this core? Is there some config I can adjust, or is the core simply not working correctly with the mouse?

Cheers!

Hmmm, ok I just loaded the SCUMMVM core to see if the mouse works in that GUI, and the buttons do not work there either.

So maybe it’s not the Amiga core, any advice? The mouse is definitely working, it’s not broken

Tried a few mice but no difference. Mouse clicks not working in Amiga GUI, ScummVM etc out of the box. I have also tried a full install and both x86 and x64 versions but get the same thing. Will try an older version next. I suspect it’s a config thing I need to change which I’m missing, but I’d expect the mouse buttons to work by default on cores which use it for GUI navigation?

Cheers!

Hi,

For the Amiga core, if you go to the quick menu then Controls and go down you can see that User 1 Mouse mode toggle is assigned to Select. Did you try to press Select ?

Thank you.

Hi there,

Thanks for replying. Yep I can press select and cycle between mouse and joystick - this works fine, however you cannot left or right click when in mouse mode, whether that be in GUI or in game. As it turns out, this isn’t exclusive to the Amiga core, because it does it on the GUI on the ScummVM core too. Joystick is fine though.

The mouse is fine outside of Lakka, so I’m not too sure what might be going on.

Are you able to replicate? All you need to do is launch the ScummVM core with keyboard, joypad and mouse plugged in, mouse movement should work but for me, left and right click do not. Same with the P-UAE one.

Any ideas? It’s the only thing which I’m having real trouble with, it’d be great to get a few Amiga games up and running, and maybe even a ScummVM one.

Cheers!

Yes I reproduce the issue on Lakka but not on RetroArch with Xorg. We don’t use Xorg on generic platform so that must be why we are getting the issue.

The workaround for now is to move the mouse and press X to do the left click on the keyboard.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply. At least it is nothing to do with my setup and you are able to replicate.

Could this be filed as a bug/enhancement? For the time being, as you say I should be able to use keyboard for mouse clicks.

Thanks!

whats the default input driver in lakka? are there other selections?

@movisman please come to our irc channel #lakkatv to discuss about the issue.

@wertz The default input driver is udev and it is not the only one.

ok i looked at source. mouse should work. have you tried switching off Use analog from quickmenu>options?

Really sorry for the slow response on this, I have been a bit caught up and it slipped my mind. I cannot remember if I tried that but I don’t believe I did.

When I get a moment i’ll put Lakka back onto a USB stick and try it out, at the moment the machine I was using has Ubuntu MATE on it.

Cheers
