Multiple drives for ROMs?

I have an Intel NUC and plan to install Lakka on a bootable SD card. My ROM collection is large and is spread over multiple USB flash drives.

Would it work to have roms on the SD card, but then also use a 8 port USB hub and plug in all the USB flash drives?

Can Lakka do a playlist scan over multiple drives? For example, if I have a flash drive with PSX A-M roms and then a second flash drive with PSX N-Z roms.

Would all the roms be accessible as if they were all stored on a single drive?

The playlists just store paths to the files, and you can add in additional locations just by scanning them separately. The biggest pitfall in your description, I think, is whether your drives are enumerated the same each time.
