Im working on building a rpi2 build and have got my the system running with a keyboard i have a ps3 controller with blue tooth dongle, have roms and the nes bios. i really dont know how to set this up right to make them run. i have a few questions i apologize in advance if they are answered some where else or if im in the wrong spot.

How do i setup lakka to run the roms i want?

Is there a way to run a test game to see that my hardware is running right?

Is there a place to find out what my ps3 keys do, a short cut key map for stock lacca?

i have been able to use my ps3 controller using the faq how to. It worked well and was easy (i still have yet to get the config to save after boot but with a bit of digging i bet i could get it)

so to my understanding it works like this for most setups

1 get up to date emulator 2 get roms for emulator 3 get bios for emulator and roms 4 play game!!

so the problem i think im having is at step 3.5 configuring it all to work together. I really just want to sit back have a beer and play some old school nes games while reflecting on times gone by. if anyone can please help me get step 3.5 solved i would be very happy. I know im a noob at this, they say take baby steps but i feel thats to fast on this project so this is me crawling to the finish.

I don’t know what to tell you… everything is outlined in steps here:

http://www.lakka.tv/get/windows/generic/install/ --It’s pretty straight forward.

  1. You downloaded/updated an NES core (emulator) via the GUI? (I recommend “fceumm” for the pi/pi2 - Nestopia is technically better, but pi2 has some speed issues with that core unless overclocked)

  2. You got roms? good roms? …The best ROMs require NO-INTRO.

  3. …You don’t need a BIOS dump for NES emulation… just the ROM dumps.

3.5 is your issue hunh? it seems like your stuck trying to get the rom files into the right location? …how are you attempting to connect to the pi? The most common method is to connect via smb network protocol if you’re using a Windows machine: http://www.lakka.tv/doc/Accessing-Lakka-filesystem/

It’s really not too bad, you just need to do a bit of reading and make sure you follow everything step-by-step. It’s all documented.

Good luck,

If he’s on an RPi2, he should use this guide instead http://www.lakka.tv/get/windows/rpi2/
