N64 roms reboot lakka

Any time I try to run a n64 rom Lakka reboots. Is anyone else having this issue? I’m running on a 64-bit computer with 3gb ram, nvidia gpu, and a dual core processor. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hello Rezza, are you using the release or a nightly build? Whatever you are using, can you try the other and post the result here please? You can also try to switch the gfx plugin of mupen. You can do it by editing some files in /storage/.config/retroarch or /storage/system

I’m using the release version. Where would I get the nightly version? Sorry kind of new at this whole linux deal.

Here they are  http://sources.lakka.tv/nightly/

Just wonder what the difference between the nightly and release are?

The nightlies are our development builds. They contains the newest code, and maybe some bugs we’ve not yet noticed.

When we think the nightlies are in a stable state and bring enough new features, we proceed to some additionnal tests, like launching a game of each platform on each hardware. And if it works, we release it.

Upgraded to the latest nightly build but still having lakka reboot after trying to launch a n64 rom.

Uhm, I don’t know how to investigate further. The only PC I have here has an Intel HD card, and the N64 roms will launch just fine on it.

What you could try, is forcing the gfx plugin to another value in the core options. Launch a game, and right after hit the menu button and change this option. Do not come back to the game, restart retroarch instead. And then launch the game.

If it crashes instantly, you can try editing your retroarch-core-options.cfg file manually (for example, via nano over ssh) with one of the mupen64-gfxplugin values from here: http://wiki.libretro.com/index.php?title=Mupen64Plus#Options

I changed this to mupen64-gfxplugin = “auto” nothing happened…should i keep changing it and see which one works? my install keeps crashing when launching N64 games also, x86 32 bit intel built in graphics card…

Yeah, try some different values. Also, try setting it to cached_interpreter instead of dynarec. There could be something screwy with the 32-bit dynarec.

which file am i supposed to edit?

/storage/.config/retroarch or /storage/system? or the mupen64 core file? the mupen64 file does not have the line, so i added it…which didn’t help.

/storage/.config/retroarch/retroarch-core-options.cfg, I think. I’m not super-familiar with the Lakka filesystem.

I added both mupen64-cpucore = “cached Interpreter” and mupen64-gfxplugin = “auto” and all the other possible options…no luck, it still crashes…unless I need to put it after a specific line…i was just adding it to the options.cfg as suggested about 3 or 4 lines down and restarting retroarch. <sigh>

I found this in the hardware support “N64 is not supported on 32 bit PC.” perhaps this is the issue??

ah, yeah, seems likely. :frowning:

Yes, I was never able to compile mupen for 32 bit, it crashes instantly.

I have a 64 bit PC with Lakka and can’t get a N64 ROM to load - do I need to leave the rom in zipped format or not?

It shouldn’t matter but it’s worth unzipping it first to see if that helps.

What is your graphic card ?
