NEW MACHINE! Tips and issues

Hello

I purchased a second hand laptop from a friend and I intend to make it my primary gaming machine using Lakka latest 64 bits version from USB pen.

Here are the specs: HP Pavilion G6 (2013 model) with Win10 OS

CPU: Intel® Core™ i7-3632QM CPU @ 2.20GHz RAM: 8GB Kingston 1600MHz (2x4GB) GPU 1 : AMD Radeon HD 7600M Series GPU 2: Intel® HD Graphics 4000 Total GPU RAM: 5.868 MB Sound: High Definition Audio Device (HDMI) IDT High Definition Audio CODEC

HDD:Hitachi HTS545050A7E380 - 500 GB

So far I only tested 2 PSP games (Manhunt2 and Warriors (both Rockstar titles). I’m running them without BIOS (I don’t know if I need one like in PS1/PS2)

The issues I’ve encountered are: In the Warriors game there’s no sound in the intro and other cinematic video, during play audio sometimes is out of sync and crackles. I have tried all the audio drivers the same thing happens. Currently using the default Alsathread driver. In the Manhunt 2 game I can’t save in game.

I would like this machine to run mostly PS1, PS2 and PSP games.

Can you please help me out with this issues? Also I would appreciate very much any tips regarding configuration of Lakka to take full advantage of the hardware for the cores presented above. I believe this laptop specs are enough to run any game, right?

Thank you !

We don’t have a PS2 core, so no chance of playing those games in Lakka.

I don’t know for sure, but it seems The Warriors has a lot of issues with sound even on a real PSP.

You should be set for PS1 games, though.

Yup, I’m with Hunter on this one.

  1. No PS2 core on Retroarch or Lakka, so that’s out. Download PCSX2 and call it a day.

  2. The Warriors is one of those games that was never finished properly and should have been bug-tested to be quite blunt. Good luck with that.

  3. PS1 games? Not a game on the planet you can’t run with that setup.

Side note: Lakka specializes in legacy hardware, and single-board computers (think Raspberry Pi). Your laptop certainly qualifies (but I’m being honest, just barely!), but you sure you don’t want to piece together something else that might work better to give you more of what you want? Just saying.

Thank you for both your answers.

I don’t know what esle would be better than his setup. It has to be a laptop so I can carry it around. I’m using Win 10 on this HP for movies/web browser etc. So I don’t want a setup only for lakka.

About the Warriors game: I have other older Toshiba laptop from 2007 running Linux Lite ditro 32bits with 2GB of RAM and an Intel Pentium Dual Core T2310 (1.4GHz). I use Lakka 32bits USB and on the Warriors game the intro scenes anda other cinematic scenes have sound, but the game itself is unplayable as it becomes suuuuper slooooow. The ISO image is the same so what could be causing the lack of sound on the HP setup?

About PCX2 emulator: What can you tell me about it? Can I play any PS2 game using it on my HP laptop?

Thanks
