Nightly - Can't find SNES-core

Hi @ all,

i’ve just downloaded and installed the nightly Lakka-Generic.x86_64-devel-20151019072135-r21178-gfd6f606.img.gz on my Lenovo T61. So long every think works fine, I can even scan for SNES Roms and they get displayd in the right emulator but when i try to start it tells me, “No core found”. But the core is installed for sure. I can go to Settings -> load core -> load content and start those roms. Anyone an idea where i could look to fix this issue?

Hello to all, same problem here but with Lakka-Generic.i386-devel-20151019 and not only with SNES core but basically with all the cores… I like the scan feature but once I have several collections (one per ‘roms’ subfolder) it is impossible to run any rom, it always say “No core found” depite loading any core previously (same process as Raaki). Any help is welcome

Thanks, Nicolas

i don’t have this issue with Lakka-Generic.x86_64-devel-20151019072135-r21178-gfd6f606.img.gz …i did a fresh install though…i also updated xu4 using Lakka-OdroidXU3.arm-devel-20151019074516-r21178-gfd6f606.tar …runs fine…

I did a fresh install too so what’s happening there? Strange! 3 users, 3 different behaviors…

Yeah me too. I’m having the same problemas as the first 2 users.

I did a fresh install with Lakka-Generic.x86_64-devel-20151019072135-r21178-gfd6f606.img, added ROMs using network, then scanned directories and content was shown but when I selected rom it didnt find cores. So I had to manually download all cores that I needed. This behaviour is new as previous nightlies included the cores. I really really REALLY need that Lakka contain all cores from the get go as I use it to prepare PCs without internet.

I suggested this to RetroArch developers but they dont want to include cores anymore since they become outdated from the get go, but I really dont care as having old cores is better than no core at all.

interesting…do you know if updating will require redownloading of all cores? or updating will even update cores?

Ah I see, thanks for the info matcarfer.

Where can I download the cores? I dug in old posts from this forum, they point to http://buildbot.libretro.com/nightly/linux/ but this place shows empty folders… And after downloading, where do I put them?

May I mention that I need to download them offline, my lakka nettop is not plugged to internet so I use an ubuntu live usb key to copy needed files to lakka file system…

Or should I take the last stable version of lakka, install it, dump the core folder on a usb key, and copy it again after installing the nightly??

I’m a little confused that nightly do not contain cores anymore, I join matcarfer in not seeing the point of providing a lakka without any core…

You have to go to Online Update->Update Core->Select each core you are interested in updating. Absolutely cumbersome. As I said before, all available cores should be IN the distro ready to be used.

Bundling all of the cores has legal implications because some of them are GPL-licensed and some are not.

lakka core updater works for my Windows image but does nothing for my odroid xu3 image…you press select on core updater n screen flashes but nothing happens

probably it’s not pointing to the correct URL for ARM cores

Ok, then bundle all except the ones that are in conflict.

the duplicate listing of roms is already submitted as issue on lakka github page

There were a problem with core info path. This prevented the cores to be listed when launching a rom from the playlist. I’m uploading a development build that address this issue. Be sure to clean your retroarch.cfg.

Great, I was sure many cores were included but they didnt work.

I just tried the last nightly, Lakka-Generic.i386-devel-20151025155334-r21186-gaa0d882, and I still have some problems (same as in previous nightly in fact):

  1. N64 roms (scanning and running) do not work: I have 15 roms (mainly .z64 files but also some .v64) in a dedicated “N64” folder, when I san it, it takes 1mn or so, but then no collection is created. If I Load content > Select file and detect core, none of the 15 files is able to play, the screen flashes and Lakka restarts

  2. SNES roms scanning works very partially: out of my 55 roms (mainly .smc but a few.sfc files) only 6 are actually added to the collection (!) but contrarily to N64 I am able to run any of these 55 roms through Load content > Select file and detect core

  3. [EDIT] oops, sorry I forgot: I was unable to launch any old DOS game with DosBox nor ScummVM game neither…

Other than that, everything seems to work flawlessly for my SMS, Genesis, NES, GBA and Atari 2600 roms

I did notice some menu mix-ups in the previous nightly: when you were in any sub-menu, go Down to select any option of the list, then press W to go back, a ghost menu appeared on top of the existing one, making it unreadable. I tried to reproduce it in devel-20151025155334 but it seems fixed  good job!

are your n64 roms verified good rom?

Yes. I have played them on other systems (Windows, Android) many times before.

Hello, mougino,

mupen64plus -libretro have never been working on 32bit. At least in Lakka. And this is stated in our documentation, on the “ROMs and BIOSes” page.

If you want all your snes roms to be scanned, download the “no-intro snes fullset”. First, those are the best verified roms, and then 100% will scan.

Scummvm and dosbox are difficult to get, yeah.

Hi, I’ve installed Lakka on my rPi 1 and while Genesis (Picodrive) and SNES (PocketSNES) emulation is smooth, NES (FCEUMM) emulation is really slow. There is a way to manually download and add a lighter libretro core for NES in Lakka? Thanks

P.S. I have not the “Core Updater” option in menu
