Nvidia HDMI (driver?) troubles

Hi, I can’t seem to get HDMI out to my TV to work properly on an Acer Aspire 4935 (NVIDIA GeForce 9300M GS)

I’ve done some expirements with different distros and I think the isue is with the graphics driver:

with the lakka img : HDMI not detected with libreelec: HDMI detected but no TV connected with libreelec latest: HDMI and TV detected but image is garbled (colours messed up, mouse pointer is a white block) with ubuntu 16.04 (nouveau driver): HDMI and TV detected but blank output to TV with ubuntu 16.04 (proprietary nvidia driver): HDMI and TV detected and good output including audio

so for now I’ve resorted to installing retropie on ubuntu, but I prefer the more finished Lakka experience. (and the appliance-like approach suits my use case much better)

Is there a way to get the proprietary Nvidia driver (to run) on Lakka? - will it be supported in the (near) future? [I found a thread reverting kernel patches etc. … but that’s a little too far down the rabbit hole for me]

thanks for any answer - and if it should work already, please tell me which info I need to supply to help debug.
