PixPalette — Color Value Converter for RetroArch & Gambatte
I created PixPalette, a lightweight utility for converting individual color values between RGB, HEX, Integer, and normalized Float formats.
It is designed especially for working with RetroArch, Libretro shaders, Game Boy, and the Gambatte core.
PixPalette is a color-value converter — NOT a palette-file converter.
The idea came from a simple problem: when working with Game Boy graphics, Gambatte, RetroArch shaders, or shader parameters, you may need to repeatedly convert the same color values between different formats.
Instead of doing these calculations manually, PixPalette does them instantly.
Why Gambatte?
When working with Game Boy emulation, especially the Gambatte core in RetroArch, working with specific color values can involve converting between RGB, Integer, HEX, and normalized Float representations.
PixPalette makes this process much faster and easier.
Supported Conversions
RGB → Integer / Float / HEX
Enter values such as:
255 255 255
120 120 120
0 64 128
PixPalette generates:
• RGB
• Normalized RGB Float
• Integer
• HEX
Integer → RGB / Float / HEX
Enter an Integer color value and PixPalette extracts:
• Red
• Green
• Blue
• Normalized RGB Float
• HEX
Useful for working with Game Boy / Gambatte color values and retro shader development.
HEX → RGB / Float / Integer
Enter:
#FF0000
#00FF00
#0000FF
Short HEX notation is also supported:
#FFF
PixPalette automatically generates:
• HEX
• RGB
• Normalized RGB Float
• Integer

Built with AI — Directed by a Human
Yes, AI was used to write and implement PixPalette.
However, the important part is that the concept, problem identification, requirements, workflow, conversion methods, and overall direction came from me.
I used AI as a development tool — essentially a coder and technical writer executing my instructions.
In simple terms:
Me: Concept + Ideas + Requirements + Logic + Direction
AI: Coding + Implementation + Technical Assistance
The AI wrote the code, but I decided what to build, why it was needed, and how it should work.
