Problems in Pi2

Hi,

I managed to install Lakka nightlies on a Raspberry Pi 2 B with Berryboot.

I find the following problems:

 1. No ssh or tty support:
 • SSH connection on port 22 refused (user and password: root).
 • If I activate tty retroarch=0 and press Ctrl + Alt + F3 black screen is still present. Also tried on other ttys. I would use it to check and activate ssh and ftp servers.
 • Also I cannot use ftp to connect. So the access is broken.
 1. Very laggy changing from emulators XMB menu.

 2. If I press “s” key on keyboard or “triangle” button on a PS3 controller, it opens “Search” but I cannot exit from it with any controller.

 3. Some FBA roms which works on RetroPie doesn’t work here.

 4. This is not a problem but a feature should have: have a good scraper like sselph/scraper.

Thanks in advance!.

BR

Hi magarto!

 1. Your problems here could come from berryboot not passing the right arguments in the cmdline via the bootloader. Check that “ssh” is present in the cmdline. If you can’t get the ssh access with that, then your filesystem may be corrupted and you may have to reinstall Lakka.

 2. This is not normal, the menu on RPi2 is supposed to be full speed.

 3. Yeah, you’re right. I need to fix that in RetroArch code.

 4. Ah, maybe our version of FBA is outdated. I suggest you to use a nightly build or wait for the new release, in a few days, or week.

 5. Yes, for now the devs of RA are working on non-blocking image loading and a database, so this feature will come.

 1. Very laggy changing from emulators XMB menu.

===> Same situation with NOOBS. It’s really laggy

More laggy than in a direct install on a dedicated sd card?

It’s very very laggy. It takes around 10 seconds to move from one emulator to other, without ROMs. Compared to videos I watched it is too laggy.

I’m building a image and will check it.

Thanks for your effort, Magarto.

The version i’m currently running is:
Lakka-RPi2.arm-devel-20150512171515-r21002-ga5310d6-noobs.tar 12-May-2015 17:49 80M
OK I will check that now.

I just flashed the nightly build and the menu speed is normal.

Can you try this please?

I want to check if the problem comes from your setup or from noobs.

I will try noobs on my side.

Compiled but I have still the same problems but SSH which was my problem. I have not checked tty.

I installed Lakka on my RPi2 using NOOBs, no problem of speed in the menu so far.

So the problem could come from a wrong EDID provided by your TV, or wrong EDID detection by the OS.

OK, will check it in another TV and let you know. Anyway with Retropie or the gui skin for Lakka it works great.

Another question. Using an original PS3 controller thought USB here and in Retropie I can only use in fba the buttons select, L2 and R2 and the left analog stick. In the menu, buttons work but not in games… I have tried to fix it (in Retropie I configured the controller manually and everything in right) but in the games it isn’t fixed. Any advice?

My last question answered… I had to edit fba2x.cfg file

This or the core options, both will work.

XMB isn’t laggy on my RPi2. Using current stable build.

One thing that I found with both of my Pi’s is that if you use a charger to power it that doesn’t deliver enough voltage, the Pi will lag quite a bit. You must use a 5V 2A charger plug with the Pi. Most new phone chargers use this (it’ll say on the sticker). If in doubt, buy a charger from an official Pi provider.

I use exactly a 2A charger (Xiaomi charger for Mi3) so it is not my case and still very very laggy.

Have you tried on another TV?

You can also try to force the fps in the bootloader of the pi.
