Problems to install lakka or prove it from usb

Hi guys,

I’m new to lakka, I’m having trouble installing it (or just prove it from USB), and i would appreciate if you could help me. The thing is that Lakka only works on one of the 4 computers on which I tested it. The version of lakka and the specifications of the computers are the following:

Lakka Version: Lakka-Generic.i386-devel-20161002110423-r21593-g03241bf.img

Computer 1 (laptop): Asus k52JT, i5 2.27Gh, 4GB of RAM, ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4500 Series

Computer 2 (desktop): ASRock ConRoe945G-DVI, Pentium D 3.7Gh, 1GB RAM, Intel Media Accelerator 950

Computer 3 (desktop): Asus P8 H61-M LK R2.0, i3 3.2Gh, 8GB RAM, Nvidia GeForce GT 610

Computer 4 (desktop): Asus H170 Pro Games, i7 3.4Gh, 16GB RAM, Gigabyte GeForce GTX 970 Games G1 WindForce OC

After putting the image on a 4GB Kingston Pendrive as given in the manual on lakka.tv, the behavior on each of the computers mentioned above is as follows:

Computer 1: On the laptop load the main menu, but when you try to install it, or simply prove it, hangs with the black screen and the Lakka logo as if it were loading, but everything hangs all the time. I have to reboot the PC to the raw.

Computer 2: I can access to test it and to install it, in fact it installs it correctly. What happens on this computer is that you can not make use of it because it works really slowly (as you were playing a videogame at 5 FPS, the sensation is the same)

Computer 3: On this computer it seems to work normally.

Computer 4: On this computer does the same as on the laptop, but in the place of hanging with the logo, hangs with the black screen. I have to reboot the PC to the raw.

I would appreciate any comments that can help me to solve the problem, because my intention is to use the computer 2 to make an arcade machine.

Greetings and thanks.

For #2, try going to settings > menu and turn off the ribbon shader.

for #4, I think that GPU is too new and requires a newer kernel(?).

In general, try to provide some logs. If you can’t use ssh, try direct access.

PC1 : You may have to change video_monitor_index in the configuration file.

PC2 : As Hunterk said, disable the ribbon if it is not enough as the card is old try to change menu_driver to rgui.

PC4 : We have added firmwares for Maxwell card, so it should work with the kernel 4.6.x but we never had the opportunity to test as we don’t have maxwell card.

Hi guys,

thanks for your comments, it has been realy helpful and i’ve resolved the problem. Thank you so much, now i can use lakka perfectly in computer #2.

Could you explain me what was happening and what is the ribbon?

And one more things, could you explain me how to put games in lakka already installed in the Computer #2?? I’m trying to transfer games from my laptop to the computer #2 connecting the computer #2 with ethernet cable and laptop with wifi to the same router, but i don’t clarify myself, I don’t know how to do it.

Greetings and thanks

The ribbon is an animated effect that runs in the background. It just looks nice and fancy  Unfortunately, some older GPUs really hate it.

Did you read this documentation about how accessing lakka filesystem ?

Thanks everybody for your comments. I’ve solved the problem and now I can put roms to Lakka. I’m gonna open a new thread because I have problems loading PS1, MAME and NEO-GEO roms.
