PS3 controller requires reset every boot

Hello, I am hoping someone can help me. I have installed Lakka on an old HP laptop and after making some configuration changes (for instance: disabling the ribbon so it is not so slow), I am ready to get started on the fun stuff. I have an old PS3 controller that I don’t use, I have it charged, plugged it into the Lakka box and it is “recognized on port 0”. For a while I couldn’t figure out why it was recognized but the menus never moved when i used the controller, then I reset the controller (using the paperclip method) and it worked…but only while it was plugged into USB and only until I rebooted the Lakka box again. Then I have to reset it again, etc ,etc.

I am hoping to eventually connect it via Bluetooth, but I am not 100% sure the computer has BT, so i have to go through some drawers and look for an old mouse BT/USB adapter to be sure. In the mean time, can anyone help me with the whole “I have to reset this controller every reboot” issue? Am I missing a configuration in the input settings?

I apologize if this has been addressed in the past, I did a search but nothing came up.

What is the output of lsusb when your controller is plugged in usb ? You will have to access Lakka command line interface.
