Raspberry Pi 3 + Psx emulation

I am wondering which psx cores are supported for rpi3 currently. I’m using Lakka-RPi2.arm-devel-20160602231422-r21463-g9531662.

Basically I am trying to use pcsx-rearmed but the core doesn’t load. Mednefen psx hw acts the same. Shows up in information/core info, but doesn’t show on the bottom right. When loading rom / selecting core, it goes black screen then back to main menu. Psx bios images are ‘present’ for all of the psx cores (mednefen psx, beetle, mednefen psx hw and pcsx rearmed). Additionally, mednefen and beetle WILL run roms, albeit slowly. Rearmed and mednefen psx hw just return to main menu.

Any pointers? I’ve heard good things about pcsx rearmed on rpi3, I just am not sure where my issue is. Otherwise Lakka is running great.

Side note: Lakka is fantastic! Love the interface look and feel. It works solid and there are many options. Thanks devs and supporter team!

PCSX-ReARMed is the only one that will get full speed on rpi3, so that’s the one you’ll want to focus on. It’s not as picky about BIOS as mednafen/beetle-psx, since it has a built-in HLE BIOS, so that’s probably not your issue. In this case, I think we’ll need to see a log to know what’s going wrong.

If you need instructions to getting a log, look on this page for ‘how do I debug retroarch?’ http://www.lakka.tv/doc/FAQ/

I was able to get the rearmed core to work by deleting all the rearmed files from ‘cores’… and now there are no issues.

In my infinite wisdom I had updated and backdated Lakka, starting with the 05-03 release. That was a fresh install. Tried various releases and even dropped in a 05-15 rearmed core from buildbot (not sure that was a good idea😅 I’m good at breaking stuff) but pcsx rearmed behavior never changed until I deleted the cores.

Thanks for your help hunterk, I did learn how to run a log (which I can post if you would like to see). Hope this helps anyone in the future with a similar issue.

Lakka is awesome!

No worries, glad you got it fixed up!
