Reshade and Retroarch Help

Sorry to bother you with such a noob question but I’m just starting to learn how to use reshade. How do you now if reshade settings are being applied to retroarch? I created a setting to the retroarch.exe but don’t see any difference when applying changes while running the snes or genesis cores live while changing settings (I am pushing changes to retroarch and the reshade forlder in retroarch does change). When creating a settings for retroarch in reshade do I use direct3d9? or is it opengl or other. Thank you for your help and input on this.

RetroArch is usually run with OpenGL but you can switch to D3D if you prefer. The only things you lose are shaders (which shouldn’t matter because you’re using ReShade for that) and the less-visually-appealing RGUI menu is the only one that works.

Is there a reason you want to use ReShade shaders instead of the native RetroArch shaders?

Thx for your reply Hunterk. I AM using retroarch 2xbr-crt-hylian and then using reshade to give some extra effects on it. But I can’t see if the effects I’m putting are actually applying over 2xbr-crt-hylian or not.

Ah, ok. I would try it with no shaders first, since that should make it easier to tell if your ReShade is taking effect.

Thx Hunterk. Yes for some reason its not applying reshade to retroarch. Wonder what I could be doing wrong.

Does ReShade need to have access to the actual gl/d3d DLL to hook into it? Sorry, I don’t have any experience with it, though I used the older SweetFX with some Steam games a few years back.

Thats what I’m gonna check to see. I’ll let you know once I figure it out.

how do i use reshade crt settings i don’t know how to use it i’m desperate

ReShade works fine with open gl. To know if it actualy is beeing used… first when you load your game in retroarch, there should be some white text in the upper left corner wich says reshade etc. etc. Then it means it is hooked. Oh I just remembered Iam using an older ReShade since I prefer that one. However, you can also set on/off toggle in ReShade somewhere, depending on wich version you use. I prefer to have he “Home” keyboard button as that, wich would then be VK_HOME in ReShade.
