RetroArch 1.3.6+ Beta released for PlayStation3 - PS3 is back!

Any updates on a new .pkg or a nightly build?

Also some questions.
What is the correct pathing information for thumbnails?

Also what is the correct path to place a playlist file.
I know that /dev_hdd0/game/RXMAM0007/USRDIR is the Retroarch path but can’t find any logical indication of where to place a playlist file.

Hey Ezio - I noticed on the Github that you confirmed the Prosystem big endian hash value issue was fixed due to a recent update, and the issue was closed.

Does that mean that it now properly recognizes the same hash values as other versions of Prosystem (PC, Android, etc.)?

Yes, thanks to libretro guys.

I’m uploading right now the new ps3 builds, they’re a snapshot of the latest available source code.

New ps3 builds available (nightly 2016-10-06):

Dex ps3 build https://mega.nz/#!JEp2mYpa!1oulp56wZ7uTD3_CWx8u2p1ZJqQuD0PlfznvMKYssn8 Cex ps3 build https://mega.nz/#!YNRHkbTK!rdf4mWJ0NNdWVsMSbDeEQ9ZJ3dQYd3chC_DzVncELc0 Ode ps3 build https://mega.nz/#!BYpi1TCA!HUk9ZNQpQpS6LxZ9kL5QmUUvIpHml_KlfqYHrsCw1P8

There’s a bunch of improvements than the previous build, so here it’s a changelog including some of them:

  • 2 new cores available, 2048 and 81
  • per core configs aren’t longer supported (removed)
  • save override game and save override core are now on the main menu
  • utf-8 support for the language
  • better cfw compatibility
  • new feature ‘remove from playlist’
  • new features ‘hide tabs’ and ‘hide advanced settings’
  • renamed some cores such as snes9x and fbalpha
  • prosystem now supports all the commercial available roms
  • fixed savestates for snes9x2010
  • added downloads folder, it includes freeware and shareware contents: cave story, doom, quake
  • experimental ps3 ode build: savestates, savefiles, playlists, configs, bios, remaps now should work
  • netplay is now on the main menu and it’s working: you can play online with a friend
  • updated assets, cores, database, info files
  • updated some translations

If you get troubles when you install it over a previous build, you could need to delete your config file, otherwise do a clean installation.

The update is recommended, enjoy.

AWESOME! Thanks, man.

Que diferencia hay entre DEX y CEX ya que uno tiene más volumen qué otro? Gracias por el aporte.

No hay diferencia en el contenido, es sólo la compresión diferencia entre DEX y CEX.

Thank you so much for this new build, to everyone involved!

Gracias por la aclaración y por los aportes.

Thanks, snes core runs very well

Hi guys, i tried two cores with NTSC and PAL Roms now (snes, gba) and they have some kinda noisy sound, it is a bit shuttering. Even when i have no savestate or stuff loaded. The configuration is stock. Is that a normal behavoir on the current builds? I’m just into retroarch since Ezio_PS latest builds.

I’m running latest build on 4.80.1 rebug cex.

I have the same cfw and i didn’t get those issues. Did you do a dirty or a clean installation? Whether it’s dirty one try deleting the retroarch cfg file and see if it fixes your issue.

Is it just me or is the PCE-CD games broken?

Hi, Do you think it might be possible to have the PCSXRearmed core on the PS3 port? I know you can play PSX games on the PS3, but the PCSXRearmed core allows many cool resolution enhancements, getting rid of the blurry native upscale. I don’t know if the PS3 is powerful enough to run it at full FPS, but it would be awesome!

PCSX-ReARMed gets most of its mojo from ARM’s NEON SIMD extensions, which are not present on the PS3’s PowerPC CPU, so no, it wouldn’t be a good experience there and the resolution enhancements, which require NEON, wouldn’t work at all.

Ok thank you for your reply, that makes sense. I never tried the Mednafen’s PSX core included in the PC version, but do you know if it offers enhancements that could be beneficial to the PSX emulation on PS3 (over the native one)?

I don’t think the PS3 could get full speed with it, unfortunately.

yeah - as much as it’s nice that the various PSX cores are included, none of them will perform better than the native one as far as game play-ability and speed.

can someone explain how the save core overrides feature works?

I’d like to set custom ROM paths for each core, but since then custom core settings went away, I can’t.

Thanks for your help.

It is a clean install. Every core has the same behavior. I also tried to play around with the sound settings but none of them fixed it, so i had to reset the config again.

Do you running it over HDMI ? If so, could u please test it via SCART ?

Mine is CRT TV via Scart RGB Cabel
