RetroArch Android releases (v1.0.0.2)

Awesome, thanks for the speedy reply. Goodbye iPad 2, hello Nexus 7

Not just for the above reason, I have a few reasons for changing my tablet.

Youā€™re using your PS3 pad wired? Can you give me some examples of games where you have these problems?

I had to reverse X and Y for PlayStation3 Ver. 2 since people were complaining about it being reversed in order.

I seem to have a PS3 Pad Ver. 1 and didnā€™t have any problems while testing.

Iā€™m using it Bluetoothā€¦ in testing Samurai Showdown, when you press slash a+b, you get a heavy slash (slash c) same deal with kicks. So thereā€™s 6 attacks; you have to hit 2 buttons simultaneously to get the 3rd attack/kickā€¦

Thatā€™s whatā€™s not workingā€¦ I can try more games in a whileā€¦

Thanks

I think so - we are only ā€˜little peopleā€™ to the ā€˜great equalizerā€™ Google.[/quote]

Hi Squarepusher, did you see this ?

http://developer.android.com/google/play/expansion-files.html

It seems to be easy to implement and would save a lot of space on internal storage to add the cores as a expasion file.

I seem to be able to hit 2 buttons simultaneously 1 in 15 triesā€¦ It appears that it does work, but I donā€™t know what the problem is. Iā€™ll try a different controllerā€¦

Thanks for the new release!

Looks like the 2 pads same time crashing bug is gone, just tried myself pushing both pads on SFIII and didnt crash, will test more tomorrow with a friend if possible.

Thanks markezine for helping fixing this and as always Square, hunterk, Toad King, Maister and everyone involved, the Retroarch family is changing the emulators scene, thank you.

Will look foward to test the Mame 0.78 core if i can find a 0.78 romset somewhere, still havent found it.

Best regards,

Squarepusher, canā€™t this be a side effect of the native glue input handler you fixed ? Maybe the bug made it ā€œeasierā€ to press 2 buttons before.

Could be but really - take it up with either Nvidia or Google. I just implemented what Nvidia suggested to do in that blog post. I donā€™t notice this 2 button simultaneously issue being really prevalent on my PS3 pad.

I doubt anyone cares, but Mednafen PSX and Desmume (edit: and QuickNES) crash when loading a game on my Xperia Play, and using the rgui crashes the program quite often. Would it be possible to use cores from this version of RetroArch with the previous version?

Thanks guys, I think your conversation might have gone a long way in my decision making as to what to replace my dead laptop with

Thanks for the new release.

I noticed Super Mario Bros 3 crashes QuickNes early on in the first level for me. Not a big deal, just though Iā€™d report it.

Hereā€™s the relevant info from the logs I believe:

If you donā€™t mind me asking, what are you using to capture these logs?

Yeah QuickNES is broken on Android right now.

I was meaning to exclude it before release - well, guess I forgot.

Anyway, just use NEStopia or FCEumm for now.

QuickNES is broken in the current release - just donā€™t use it.

Desmume - why are you even using that on an Xperia Play? No way in hell are you even getting past 5fps on that thing. Most likely the ā€˜crashā€™ is just the damn thing running way too slow to even respond to input and hence you get an ANR.

Mednafen PSX - why the hell are you even trying to use that on an Xperia Play? Didnā€™t you read my blog post first where I was explaining what the system requirements for these cores are like? Same deal that is probably going on here as with the Desmume core.

These cores are for ā€˜god tierā€™ devices - ie. Tegra 4-based Shield or Nexus 10 - not some crappy outdated single-core Xperia Play from 2011 stuck on Gingerbread.

Use PCSX ReARMed for PSX and get your expectations in check.

loving the choices in emulators in android version and very stable on htc thunderboltā€¦i was wondering if there is/or will be an option to add custom game covers for romsā€¦also wondering if its possible to use epsxe mem cards in pcsx rearmed if renamed the fileā€¦as for the updates, each update just gets better and betterā€¦keep up the great work

I just thought I would see what would happen if I tried to run them and thought there would be a tiny chance that the fact that they do not run at all would be useful in some sort of way to someone.

I was asking about using new cores with the old version of RetroArch because the new version crashes constantly on my phone but Picodrive does work well when the program isnā€™t crashing.

I have never tested it on your phone so I donā€™t know about it crashing.

Anyway, it is an old, outdated phone and I get sick of people referring to this piece of trash - you people keep clinging onto this piece of trash and you keep making the problems youā€™re having with this thing other peopleā€™s problems - like me for instance.

Get rid of it and buy something decent for godā€™s sake - itā€™s 2013, not 2011 - read my blog post on how you canā€™t expect any Android device that is running anything lower than Android version 4.1 to even be halfway ā€˜decentā€™. It was plainly broken before. Android 2.3 is so broken in so many different ways I donā€™t even want to think about it.

lol

Tested the Picodrive core with Mortal Kombat II 32X, works like a charm on my Galaxy SIII

Itā€™s great to have cores updated and bugs fixed with each release let alone new systems emulated like 2600 and 32X. Thanks for all your hard work.

I got it because it was the only phone I could find with gamepad controls in it, and I donā€™t regret it because almost every emulator I want runs fine on it and it was relatively cheap.

Anyway, Iā€™m not saying anyone needs to make the new version of RetroArch work on my phone, itā€™s entirely understandable that it doesnā€™t and I donā€™t need it to, Iā€™m just asking if itā€™s possible to put the Picodrive core into the previous version of RetroArch.

What is likely the cause of those ā€˜crashesā€™ on that Xperia Play thing is that we now support hat controls and analog axes. I guess that the Xperia Play supports these too to some capacity except (given the clusterfuck that is the 3 HID devices masquerading as one approach) most likely something is bound to AKEYCODE_BACK or something equally stupid like that.

Anyway, maybe littleguy77 or somebody else will be arsed to take a look at it - but not me. I donā€™t own this thing and it is a totally outdated piece of shit that has been abandoned by Sony - so no, Iā€™m not buying.
