RetroArch iOS release (v1.0.0.1)

AFAIK, the overlays don’t actually have a ‘hide button’ feature, so if that’s happening, it’s not intended :stuck_out_tongue:

A, okay, thanks for this info.

Let me ask one more question. I wanna try to edit the placement of the buttons but I dunno properly, how do you calculate that coordinate numbers of them? It’s so creepy for me to do it by eye, lol. xD

Hi guys. I justs finished doin all my settings on the old retro arch 0.9.9 and then updated to 1.0 Lol I like the new sleek look already! But I have to reconfigure everything yet again

Anyways I already noticed a problem.

Nes/ Famicon (FCEUmm)

When I load a rom no buttons show up via .nes Landscape or portrait

I messed with this an was able to get the psx Control layout to appear and functions Perfectly. So I’m thinking the .nes default layout May not be compatable. Or my device is just Being weird. Anyways besides this I’m still checking For bugs. I haven’t used my ps3 controller yet but will Update. Thx for all the hard work

Ps. iPhone 4S 7.0.4 jailbreak is my system.

Update : Nes / Famicon (NEStopia) works correctly By default with no need to change anything

Nes / Famicon (quickness) crashes with every rom I load. No clue why

Update II: Sega (Genesis Plus Gx) And Sega (Picodrive)

Default layouts for controllers do not function Portrait and landscape.

Again I changed the layout to a psx layout and All buttons function correctly.

Will keep updating.

Emulators themselves are running flawlessly So far as I’ve checked them.

The new “Load Content (Hostory)” is an Amazing addition to the home screen!

Much faster loading time. Thx for this lol

Last update on Layouts:

I figured out why my layouts would not appear. Apparently the update did not overright the old Layouts from previous version. So the emu was lookin for a file that was not There anymore. I had to manually set up each New layout (they are much better anyways) Now each Emu loads the layouts correctly.

Not sure if anyone was having these issues. Or if it was just me. But in any case it’s fixed.

Will keep messing with the new update and Keep posting things I see that are buggy.

Lol I like how I figured out my own problem with No help haha.

Anyways DarkraD out!

DarkraD, just checked all the layouts - they are working. Dunno, why you have a problem with them.

Yes they do work. My devices had the old files Saved. The old layouts. But the update erased Them so the Emus just loaded nothing

Now my new problem… My ps3 controller, As I feared, does not work. I think I just need To re sync it to the new update. Will do this Now and see if that works lol

Have you any files in /var/stash/Applications.blahblah/RetroArch.app/overlays ?

P.S I think I got it or not. Maybe you confused that RetroArch.app now isn’t in the /var/mobile/Applications - I think that your solution is there.

Hi guys,

I was wondering if someone may be able to help me. I wasn’t getting on too well with the placement of the controls on the iPad so I went through and tried to find where my thumbs fall naturally and adjust, I also tried to correct the aspect ratio. I’ve tweaked the analog n64 overlay to start with (attached).

This seems to be almost perfect placement on the iPad Mini, however I seem to be experiencing an issue where the a and b buttons will show, but will not work. Is there anyone able to look at the code and advise where I’m going wrong?

overlay0_descs = 15 overlay0_desc0 = "start,0.498,0.86,radial,0.0375,0.046875” overlay0_desc0_overlay = start.png overlay0_desc1 = "r2|b,0.875,0.67,radial,0.0325,0.040625” overlay0_desc1_overlay = downc.png overlay0_desc2 = “a,0.86,0.875,radial,0.0425,0.0531” overlay0_desc2_overlay = a.png overlay0_desc3 = “b,0.77,0.75,radial,0.0425,0.0531” overlay0_desc3_overlay = b.png overlay0_desc4 = "r2|x,0.875,0.47,radial,0.03,0.0375” overlay0_desc4_overlay = upc.png overlay0_desc5 = "r2|y,0.8,0.57,radial,0.03,0.0375” overlay0_desc5_overlay = leftc.png overlay0_desc6 = "r2|a,0.95,0.57,radial,0.03,0.0375” overlay0_desc6_overlay = rightc.png overlay0_desc7 = "l2,0.0625,0.032083333333,rect,0.0625,0.0390624999975” overlay0_desc7_overlay = z.png overlay0_desc8 = “r,0.9375,0.032083333333,rect,0.0625,0.0390624999975” overlay0_desc8_overlay = r.png overlay0_desc9 = "overlay_next,0.5,0.94533333333,rect,0.0234375,0.03125” overlay0_desc9_overlay = next.png overlay0_desc9_next_target = “menu” overlay0_desc14 = "analog_left,0.14,0.8,radial,0.083,0.102” overlay0_desc14_overlay = thumbstick-pad.png overlay0_desc14_range_mod = 3.5 overlay0_desc14_pct = 0.75 overlay0_desc14_movable = true overlay0_desc11 = “menu_toggle,0.5,0.11708333333334,radial,0.025,0.03125” overlay0_desc11_overlay = rgui.png overlay0_desc12 = “overlay_next,0.30125,0.11708333333334,radial,0.025,0.03125” overlay0_desc12_overlay = rotate.png overlay0_desc12_next_target = “analog-portrait” overlay0_desc13 = “overlay_next,0.70125,0.11708333333334,radial,0.025,0.03125” overlay0_desc13_overlay = digital-icon.png overlay0_desc13_next_target = “digital-landscape” overlay0_desc10 = "nul,0.14,0.8,radial,0.127575,0.15946875” overlay0_desc10_overlay = thumbstick-background.png

Many thanks,

Marc

@El Massman That all looks correct to me. Good-looking results, too

Do the ‘a’ and ‘b’ buttons function in RGUI or are they dead there, too? If they work in RGUI, then the overlay is fine, you just have a button mapping issue somewhere, possibly even core-related (that is, no fault of your own).

Thanks hunterk, unfortunately the buttons don’t work in RGUI either. They stopped functioning as I changed the y value I think. I’ve tried going back to an earlier revision of the file multiple times but have no luck. This may sound stupid but it seems as though once I’ve pushed it too far to the right of the screen it stops working and then won’t work again even if I change the value back.

I’ll keep playing with it and see what I can do, slightly annoying though as the placement is perfect for me! Odd that the buttons still show and still highlight when pressed though.

I love this community. We are quick with Bug reports and thuro. Lol

For anyone interested, Matthias Ringwald (one of the devs for blutrol) has updated the BTstack package for 64bit ios7 devices. He provides a link for a test deb on his twitter (@mringwal). I went ahead and installed blutrol and put the deb file on my phone 5s, then updated BTstack through ifile. Rebooted my phone and gave it a test with the following results:

-Blutrol had no problem picking up the ps3 controller and connecting with it; even disconnected fine. -Using blutrol though (with appstore apps as well as Retroarch v.1.0) was unsuccessful. Even after adding the games, setting them up, and connecting the ps3 controller, inputs were still unresponsive and wouldn’t read at all. -RetroArch (1.0) also did not work with the ps3 controller after choosing BTstack in the frontend options. I even gave retroarch a few restarts after choosing the BTstack option. However, nothing. Retroarch 1.0 doesn’t even appear to be initiating the BTstack function to begin connecting with the controller.

While Blutrol itself had no problem connecting to the ps3 controller, everything else did not work. Again, this is a test build so, there’s that… …either way, it shouldn’t be too much longer until we get a complete update to BTstack as well as Blutrol. For anyone else wanting to give the test deb a try, leave your results for others to read afterwards.

I kind of want to down grade lol I miss using my controller :frowning: Any way I can go back to an Older version? Like the last one Before the upgrade?

Running ios7 iPhone 4s

Regarding the PCSX ReARMed core (specifically on iOS), I was wondering what the exact resolution the emulator is outputting the game at. Also when enabling ‘enhanced resolution’ in the RGUI menu, at what new resolution does it increase to? Anyone able to provide or find out the answer on this?
