RetroArch Wii/Gamecube Releases (v1.0.0.2)

Hey guys, can you please take a look the 2 Wii-centric questions posed in post 174? Thank you for your time.

@ toadking im just happy you guys are still supporting the wii at all  retroarch is one of the only things worth following in the world of the wii. keep up the great work!

Like seam said, happy to hear you guys are supporting the Wii period. I saw the work u guys are doing with the 3D engines and its amazing, won’t work to Wii of course but it will for my PC.

I’m sure u guys are mega busy, if an opportunity arises +1 for IR support in cores that can benefit from it. Super psyched for 0.9.9 release XD

Well, to each his own ROFL

No big deal, let’s drop it, he’s being sincere with his opinion as was I. Rather keep the thread clean

Now if you want to see a crystal clear-cut example of somebody going ‘full retard’ and why we just HAD to dump GBATemp - there’s no clearer example than the guy polluting the gbatemp threads RIGHT NOW AGAIN - for the second time in a row about how he sees input lag… everywhere… and what’s more, it’s EMULATION that is DOING IT. It’s the emulation equivalent of The Sixth Sense I guess - it must turn people mad to be seeing input lag ‘EVERYWHERE’ where normal people see exactly jack all.

Really, this is what I’ve tried to argue for months and months - byuu’s ‘ideology’ has turned into a cancerous virus that is turning people really mentally insane. First they think they want ‘cycle accuracy’, then they think they want ‘accurate CRT TV emulation’, then they think they’re hearing ‘audio inconsistencies’, then they think they’re perceiving ‘input lag’.

But really, if all that gets them to shut up and stop bothering me is an old and dusty CRT TV and a yellow-ized SNES and some old dusty cartridges from some dodgy vendor (at markup prices), you won’t hear me complaining. Good riddance to these mentally insane screwballs.

Really, I shouldn’t link to the mental insanity - but just because I can -

Read and weep at the mental illness.

ROFL, the same Shoryuken boys that thought it was a figment of my imagination that the PS3 audio server has 40ms latency, right? Because they are ‘muscle trained’ to ‘detect input lag’ and whatnot and there couldn’t possibly be a ‘40ms audio latency, blablabla’. The same Shoryuken guys who gave me some bogus refresh rate for 3rd Strike which was totally wrong compared to the actual measured refresh rate? Yeah…

Honestly, instead of ‘muscle memory’, these people better do things the hard way - get a proper education, get a proper computer science degree, figure out how all this stuff fits together, THEN come back and run your crack theories on ‘input lag’ and whatnot to your heart’s content since by then you might actually have a frame of reference on all this stuff. It’s when armchair gamers start becoming armchair experts that things become dangerous.

You really need to forget about these people.

All I can say is, who cares about input lag. Games should be enjoyed without nitpicking about every single thing out there. I don’t know why Nintygaming is one persistent dude LOL :stuck_out_tongue:

Audio issues? Sounds perfect to me, especially now that it has sinc audio resampling (Snes, NES, Genesis all sound spot on to a real console) Input lag? Nope, never happens to me at all. I have a normal Wii, classic controller and gamecube controller, Vizio TV, never had a single issue  CRT look? Screw that, only a very small percentage of people would actually care, and personally, I couldn’t give a damn because RetroArch sure as hell looks better than anything Nintendo emulates on the Virtual Console ROFL

Your work is not as appreciated as it should be, you and your team have outdone themselves, and as such, I will do what I can to support you and your work. Rest assured, I use the emulators to play old school games, not to nitpick or complain about emulation not being perfect. Emulation will never be perfect, it doesn’t have to be. Byuu’s mentality has indeed poisoned the minds of many and they have become drones hellbent on cycle-accuracy.

ToadKing will update the OP of this page later and provide a quick synopsis. After this I’ll have to quickly roll out PS3 and Android and then it’s off to bed for me - more platforms to come tomorrow hopefully.

Thanks Squarepusher!

I will test it right away! I am really eager to check out if the PC-Engine controlling issues are gone!

Regards, C.

+1 for forgetting folk -_-

0.9.9 I’m creaming my pants HOORAY!!!

yeaaaaaa. gonna try this with the gameboy filters. awesome work guys

I am having trouble getting the new version to recognize my usb drives. Am I doing something wrong or is it broken for anyone else?

Bah, that USB issue is still around. Thought it was gone but it keeps popping up.

The next release should have this fixed. If you can’t wait a couple days/week until we update, you can either fallback to 0.9.8.4 or launch the different cores directly instead of going through our bootloader app. (Just replace boot.dol with a renamed version of the core you want.)

Ok, thank you. I am just glad is not a hardware problem on my side.

I’m afraid to ask, but was the overscan option removed in the new version?

New version 0.9.9 can’t detect my HDD only SD, someone else got this problem, HDD works just fine with other HBC apps. Also Tyrquake is a great addition, only problem that right stick seems to be unable to configure.

Look a couple posts above; the issue is known and will be fixed for the next release.

ok, thanks Toad King =)
