RetroArch Wii/Gamecube Releases (v1.0.0.2)

I found the issue and pushed a fix. When I get back later today I will test if this fixes the issue - it should but just to make sure.

I would also like to thank you guys. Itā€™s a great projekt.

Just a short question: Are you adding ā€œfolder pathā€ support in the next release of retroarch? Means to add the path to a rom folder (e.g. sd:/my/roms), a savefile folder (e.g. sd:/my/saves) or a systemfile folder (for bios files e.g. sd:/my/system). So everything can be sorted easily.

This would be awesome.

Yes, this is all configurable in RGUI now and the Wii version should benefit from these changes as well.

Great news! Thanks a lot! I am really excited about the new release.

Keep on doing such great stuff.

Thank you SO MUCH ToadKing for releasing such a convenient emulator for multiple devices. Much appreciated. Just one question, how soon will the wii version of retroarch have the mame 0.72 update?

Figured I should join over here. Gbatemp is a steaming pile of dogshit full of fucking retards and moronsā€¦ havenā€™t used it in months. They can all go fuck themselves as far as im concerned. Sorry to see they pissed you off squarepusher, it was inevitable reallyā€¦ but anywaysā€¦ hi retroarch forum! :stuck_out_tongue:

I had a few quick questions about the .99 release. Like LaidCUE just asked, is it going to include the recently added mame core? or is that for another later release or something. And I remember a while back you had added an awesome speedhack for starfox on the snes core, are there going to be speed hacks added for StuntRace-FX and Vortex at some point?

error occurred when I tried to compile it. It seems your fix breaks the codes.

Yeah. The error points to this line:

/frontend/menu/rgui.c

Line 1870 if (CONF_GetVideo() != CONF_VIDEO_PAL)

Commented this line (just for curiosity) and it works now . The option for multiresolutions is back. But you canā€™t configure your own as the last commit.

Pushed latest fix.

For those mentioning the mame core it was stated on page three that it would probably miss this next release and be included in a later build.

oh cool, thanks for that info. a few other things iā€™d like to ask about are the controls for doom. when i try to setup my controls using wiimote+nunchuk it doesnt end up letting me assign anything for weapon changeā€¦ also it doesnt save my config anyway. i have to redo my controller setup EVERY timeā€¦ it really sucks. Also it seems like it doesnt remember when i set a core to use classic controller or wiimote only, etc. i think it just stays on the last controller method you selected instead of saving the controller stuff for each individual coreā€¦ have these kind of controller issues been worked out yet? the doom issue is especially annoyingā€¦ : /

edit: oh also, i wanted to add that the snes-next and vba-next core sometimes freeze when exiting retroarch. never had this happen with any of the other cores.

Iā€™ve figured out how to compile RetroArch for the Wii but I dont understand how to compile the standalone cores to switch to while in the main RetroArch application. Any help would be appreciated thanks!

@Squarepusher/Toad King/RA Dev Team, I know the recent going ons, of the Wii Scene on Temp have left more than a sour taste in your mouth (probably made you vomit in it XD), but I just wanted to show you that your work is greatly appreciated by the vast majority of people that use RA-Wii over the few self-entitled douchebags out thereā€¦ Hereā€™s a full list of all the users that gave a full sincere Thank You, thanks and thx, in one way or another, giving you guys respect and letting you know that your work does not go unappreciated:

Disorarara, Nakata6790, Mastershoes Charco, Tetsuo Shima, s8n Soulspawn, kineticUk, Papermanzero tacodaemon, aea, B.B.Link 4K_future, Gamecuber, Ninn mightymuffy, Abdallahterro, FullMetalEngineer Coto, strai, Floating Seal groose, catuligbat, Korudo, zerofalcon, Empu1, ct_bolt Felipe_9595, helyblackstorm, MaSSiVeRiCaN gamebro CobraStr1ke seam Mart1jn, Geren, AntonioJosedeSou CanuckBuck, miihackwii, myspacee oji, arquillos, vigi_lante kylster, Dogway, bm123456

Now Iā€™m not saying this just to get you to jump on the Wii bandwagon (although honestly Iā€™m also doing it because of course, I would love if you did), but Iā€™m also doing it as a reminder that we got your back. Just based on what you have given us right now I know most of us would be very content and grateful if you guys decided to stop coding completely and I mean that from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your skills, time, sweat and tears you guys have drenched onto this project, for all consoles as well as the Wii.

Yet I also believe that the Wii homebrew scene, is the largest of all the current gen consoles. thereā€™s a large user base that was exposed to RA compared to xbox1/360 or PS3 and it would be a huge shame for us to miss out on some of the magnificent things you guys are capable of, due to the unfortunate actions of some trolling assholes making things personal and basically wasting your time. Thereā€™s nothing worse than time wasted, you canā€™t get it back, you guys deserve an apology and if I could I would, hell if itā€™s of any consolation I apologize on their behalf for their childish behavior and attitudes.

Hopefully with time, patience and the gratitude that we express here, old wounds will be healed and maybe, just maybe youā€™ll reconsider, some of your priorities towards the console, however if thatā€™s the way the cookie crumbles well so be it, again Iā€™d be happy with what youā€™ve given us. Only time will tell what the future holds, so thank you guys for whatā€™s being done going forward and whatā€™s been done up to this point.

^^^ Well said. Also, iā€™ll say it again guys, sth can only affect you as much as you let it to. Just remember that for every whiner there are hundreds of grateful users, donā€™t let the tree blind you of the forest. Finally, most are not always aware of the technical details, so not all queries are ill-willed. Look at the recent queries about genesis plus gx core for example.

Anyways, if i may ask a couple of Wii-centric questions (i.e. not in the grand scheme of things) :

  1. Would it be possible for Gambatte core to use GBC BIOS and Mednafen PCE Fast core to support .ogg files (like standalone WiiMednafen)?
  2. Are there still plans for IR support for existing cores and MAME 0.72 core for the 1.00 release (or later)? Make no mistake, all the other amazing work on new cores is appreciated (especially when taking in account the multitude of formats RA works on), just (again, this is a wii-centric question) that seeing that Wii has SCUMMVM, Quake, Cave Story & N64, PSX (although those last 2 have a 50% compatibility) already, MAME is going to nicely supplement library with more games.

Anyway rock on and be well.

MaSSiVeRiCaN: The people in that list are probably just a few of all the people who appreciate them and their work. Iā€™m sure there are hordes of people who are using RA and are grateful but simply donā€™t talk here because they donā€™t think they can add anything.

what a bunch of fuckin bullshit, lol

^^LMFAO, well that wasā€¦ unexpected, thanks for lightening up the mood there seam itā€™s always good to see youā€™re your usual cheery self. U know me always the emotional sap  and regardless I was being seriousā€¦ as Iā€™m sure you were as well :stuck_out_tongue:

0.99 is around the corner! yeah~~~

what a bunch of fuckin bullshit, lol[/quote] this guy

Also we do not plan to abandon the Wii, just like we never plan to abandon any of the other platforms we support. New cores will get ported (except for 3d ones due to technical issues) and new features will be available for the most part. However, things like specific cores for large NeoGeo games and such probably wonā€™t get done for a while, if ever. They need too much intensive work to get done and we feel our work would be better put elsewhere.

Absolutely, totally agreed! =)

Cheers! C.
