RetroArch Wii/Gamecube Releases (v1.0.0.2)

Great! I changed the save file directory to where the Super Metroid ROM is and it worked  Thanks man. I can change to the new directory in the retroarch folder on the SD card after I am finished with Super Metroid.

The menu is fantastic now, really liking how easy it is to find what I am looking for and to switch cores. I tested the overclock option on Starfox aswell and it is brilliant, great work!

I too love the new interface, it’s much more organized, smoother and the fact I can specify the ROM directory to point exactly where all my games are located on the fly is another major plus. This is bar none the best emulator for the Wii.

Thanks a lot for this fix, usb works perfectly now and the speed on certain snes games (like yoshi’s island) has improved.

Now, I had an issue with a codedump when loading a cps2 game, can anybody tell me what is this about?

Quick question ~ USB dev should be FAT32, correct? No candy for NTFS… right?

Cheers, C.

Correct.

CPS2 games will crash on load if diagnostics is enabled, turn it off after adjusting each game.

Superb! Superb emulator! Some nice shots…

Shinobi and Raiden, PC Engine, running with scanlines in my 42 LCD TV (using a external scanlines generator in my Wii)!

Cheers!

I haven’t enabled that feature on at all yet, but thanks for the heads up just in case I end up using the diagnostics in the future

I am getting a hard-crash when trying to play a FDS game with Nestopia. I have the FDS BIOS in the system directory and the game directory, and since I don’t have a log I can’t determine the problem?

Please be specific when reporting crashes.

Which ROM? When did this happen? Etc.

Just posting a pic of a stack backtrace without any context does not help us at all.

My bad actually. It was Marvel vs Capcom, but I believe that game was reported as non working on previous versions. I think trying to load the game before would give an “error loading…” message, but now it just codedumps instead.

It happened when I switched from fceum core to CPS2 and tried to load mvsc.zip and then again by just picking the core (no game loaded before that) and trying to run it.

Edit: also happens when trying to load xmcota.zip which was a working rom until the very last version of RetroArch

All CPS2 games are supposed to work, it’s a bad rom.

Make sure that your roms work with the latest version of FBA on PC.

is the fx chip overclock only supposed to work with the starfox games? cus all other fx chips games dont seem to work with it… here are my results:

dirt racer locks up the game dirt trax fx locks up the game doom locks up the game starfox 1-2, comp works fine stunt race fx crashes game(error codes) yoshis island crashes game(black screen)(froze RA when set to 80) vortex makes the music laggy winter gold locks up the game

is this just on my end guys?

Yeah it works just fine. Here’s the compatibility list: http://www.denki-den.com/tmp/retroarch-wii/fba_compat_list.xls

I hear some games just don’t like to be overclocked.

It depends on the exact ‘state’ of the game where you toggle it - it is best you toggle this right at startup first - some games are more lenient than others with dynamically switching clock speed at runtime.

Some games will start to glitch out at something above 50 or 60MHz - so just experiment with it.

Also -

yoshis island crashes game(black screen)(froze RA when set to 80) vortex makes the music laggy

Please try to use common sense here - the Wii is BARELY running SuperFX games at fullspeed without being overclocked. What do you suppose happens if you decide to ‘overclock’ it by 50Mhz or more? Of course the Wii isn’t going to be able to handle it at fullspeed and the music will turn ‘laggy’ - that is your framerate going to shit there because the emulation suddenly has to deal with a massively beefed up CPU to emulate.

I make no guarantees about SuperFX overclock working out at fullspeed for most games on Wii - Wii isn’t the only platform that RetroArch supports and the overclocking option wasn’t made specifically with Wii in mind. ‘Your mileage may vary’ here is the best response

Uh, I actually don’t give a shit if it works at all. I was merely reporting my results for your benefit only.

Oh and to be specific this is any game I try, not any specific games. Sorry for not being specific in the post.

hey guys, does anyone know how you change weapons in prboom??

Say, is there a forwarder channel to start retroarch without going through the homebrew channel? I’ve tried looking for one online but didn’t find one so far. I also tried creating one with the simple forward channel creator program, but that one just didnt work for anything
