RetroArch Wii/Gamecube Releases (v1.0.0.2)

I was wondering, regarding the current FBA Core, why does Michael Jackson’s Moonwalker doesnt run well? like, super slow and terrible audio. Wondering if it’s something the game itself has which causes issues, much on how some GBA ROMs just don’t run well.

thx to retroarch Im still using my wii. I dont use my wii for wii games. I use it to play classic arcade games. cant wait for the mame core.

I dont really care about gba games running. Whats the deal about gba games running fullspeed while the resolution sux on your TV screen. Its just not fun at all. just my 2 cents.

It’s a matter of preference, many people actually prefer the bigger screen. Set RA to use 512x192p and the bilinear filter and it looks just like the GameBoy Player.

Technical question:

Is there a way to have multiple R.A. installed in my SD? I know it sounds strange, but is it possible? Will one interfere with the other?

Or is the emulator “directory-wise” and I can as many parallel versions as I want?

Regards, C.

It should be entirely self-contained. I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t have RetroArch1, RetroArch2, etc.

Why would you want to do this? To have different icons on the Homebrew Channel for different cores? Just curious.

It would also be a rudimentary way of having per-core settings, at least for those that stick like custom resolutions. Hopefully, that won’t be necessary in the future, though.

Ah yes, the per core settings thing would be cool. I’m always switching reslutions and aspect ratios for each core. Hopefully this will be a thing of the past soon.

Just checking - in the current version, there’s been a control issue at certain points where the controls “stick”. There is also a button that engages turbo mode on the controller (which doesn’t seem to have an option listed anywhere). I have gotten stuck several times by pressing either ZR or ZL - I forget which - and then having to repress the button to undo it. Might this be related?

The control issues are known and they are trying to fix it for the next release :stuck_out_tongue:

Bingo, my friends, bingo!

Exactly for this, to be able to have, at least, CPS1+CPS2, PCEngine and VBA with their own aspect ratios, all the time, without the need to keep changing the screen settings all the time. If you could see my custom CoinOPS installs for the Ol’good Xbox you might get surprised. I have several custom setups for some of the different Mame screen sizes.

But, I see you saying that this will not be needed in the near future… Why? Will Retroarch save the screen aspect ratio based on the current core being used? Is that so? If positive, awesome news!

ADDON: I am searching for a simple way to build minimalist forwarder channels for this multi setup I am planning. Does anyone know a simple way to create such channels? Or is it a way to edit the current official forwarder?

I think I misread what Squarepusher said about there being an upcoming next version…

Is it possible to add support for USB joysticks? I built an arcade stick a few years back using the Cthulu board that’ I’d love to use now I have a portable, mean CPS board playing machine.

(if they let me use it at work again, I destroyed their CRT in the service menu trying to sort the 384 × 224 overscan out, give me a pot to twiddle any day!)

Great to see the forums back

Yeah. It’s great indeed.

Hallelujah! =D

Hi guys, news to this forum but just here to say THANKS for RA developers and the Wii port. Awesome job.

Glad to see the site up again and can’t wait to give .9.9.7 a test drive. Thanks guys.

0.9.9.7 shouldn’t be too far off now…I think :stuck_out_tongue:

It seems that GX bulid of RetroArch is broken again. I can not compile it for Gamecube port.
