RetroArch Wii/Gamecube Releases (v1.0.0.2)

Dat flamewar at gbatemp is unnecesary. Them guys that began the war are just trolls and shouldn’t be listened.

Anyway, VBANEXT I beg to disagree, there’s a noticeable speed boost with many games.

Boktai, for instance is now playable, whilst Boktai 2 is still a bit laggy but not as much…

… Sadly, Shinbok (aka Boktai 3) is still unplayable.

Metroid Zero Mission seems to be quite the improvement. I use WiiMednafen for that game since it somehow runs it better, but RetroArch Wii is goood.

Haven’t tried A Link to the Past GBA yet…[/quote]

Sorry but it seems we are tunning different channels: you are talking about Wii version that I already know works, but I talk about GC version wich I would like to experiment and enjoy its benefits.

Am I the only one whose inner child still remains? ;_;

To this day, I love to play Twilight Princess on Wii rather than GameCube, because as a child, I always was interested both into virtual reality AND I loved to play with wooden swords I was Link.

So playing TP, swinging an imaginary sword kind of makes my inner child happy big time…

I also love Punch-Out!! on Wii with motion controls over the NES configuration.

You see, I train boxing every morning, and I think Punch-Out!! Wii is a great warming up, and fun to boot.

Oh, my bad, I thought you meant on Wii.

I’m just curious to ask, if it would be possible to use the previous version of the FB Alpha cores from ‘retroarch-gx-wii-v0.9.9-fix1’ with v1.0.0? Seeming as one out of the three cores, don’t work at the moment.

Totally, that’s precisely what I did. =)

So? What did happen? Does it work?

Yup! Ran TMNT arcades and Sunset Riders and megaman the power battle on retroarch v1.0.0.0 using the FBA and FBA cps1 cores of v0.9.9.9, no issue at all. =)

Thanks, man! Now I am considering about some upgrade and testing! I am curious to see the new features!

For the most part, it seems to be better stability, better framerate and every core saves it’s own cfg. o: I haven’t fully tested though…

Does anyone know if it’s posible to send parameters in RetroArch in Wii in any way? Why? So everyone can send a config file instead of core- config, or you can make you own config file and then send it by command line or something like Wiiflow does (¡¡¡IT RULES!!!), best front end for RetroArch in Wii. In Wiiflow 4.2, I am using cores from version v0.9.9.fix1 and VBA Next from my test builds, in a mixed way, and they work well, but they still share same retroarch.cfg file, so it’s a pain config resolution screen size for each core

when importing the FB Alpha cores from v9.9.0 into v1.0.0, did anyone rename or change anything at all?

if this is the correct way of doing it at all… i deleted the new cores and i didn’t rename the old ones.

I didn’t rename the old ones either, just deleted the new ones, and they worked.

You realize that this way you are not getting any features of the RA 1.0 Build.

In reality you are just loading up RA 0.9.9 for the FBA cores. Every core is a separate build and can in practice be loaded via a homebrew booter like Wiixplorer.

Loading the FBA core from 0.9.9 has noting to do with the RA1.0 build, just to make things clear. You are just loading RA 0.9.9 this way for the FBA core.

Yes yes, Hielkenator! I know that.

But the other 1.0.0 untouched (and working) cores will be at its full glory. This is what I want. It is just a temporary solution until the broken ones get fixed.

Regards, C.

Are there more than just the standalone FBA core that are currently not working? I thought it was just that one.

Did you guys notice that the Neo Geo core also now supports Unibios 3.0? It has been added to core options for that core. Must add it and check it out.

Yeah. I realize that, dood. =o

But as long as I get to play Sunset Riders, I’m okay with it!

Cool!

This release is a dream come true personally.

I think the dev will implement the FBA version from the 0.9.9 release in the near future. As I recall the latest FBA rev has a to big memory footprint to be able to run on Wii. Wich is perfectly fine as the 0.9.9 FBA core was awesome in terms of compatibilty. To be able to play the Konami and psykio games is pure gaming bliss!

For the people interested, here’s the updated forwarder channel. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/137 … 20DRAA.wad Just install with your favourite wad manager.

I replaced the old invader icons for the new ones. Kudos to the original auhor of the work in the older channel, close2insanity

I myself would like a little more info of how the configurations per core work. Right now for me it somewhat trial and error. I have multiple .cfg files in the system folder now, some are named after the loaded core and some are named with .dol extension in them.

There no need to add the bios as a file in your system folder I think. Just enable it from the core settings. I think it’s implemented in the NEOGEO core by default.

p.s. Awesome the be able to play Sengoku 3!

Speaking of Konami games on the FBA core, in Turtles in Time when you get to one of the later stages, the one in future on the hoverboards, none of the character or enemy sprites appear and only the scrolling background. I am sure this is waaaaay down on the list of things to be looking at right now, but thought I’d mention it in case Toad King or any of the devs ever had some free time to check it out. Such a cool game.

Good to know!

An endian issue probably. It could be fixed probably - the only problem is playing all throughout that game to actually test that part - without working savestates.
