RetroArch Wii/Gamecube Releases (v1.0.0.2)

No changelog still for the Wii version =(

Which thread can we look up information on what the .info files do and how they are used?

Could you PM me this core for NGP, since it doesn’t seem to recognize controller inputs at this time other than GC remote.

Done

BTW , guys, anyone figure how to edit RA default wiimote button config? I wanna replace RA Y and B as wiimote 1 & 2 buttons.

Will there be a fix for NGP? I rather not go back to a past version because I’ve noticed that an issue I was having is no longer present(so far) where the console would go half speed and render altered colors until I rebooted. I also noticed it mostly happened when switching cores subsequently as well as skimming through the hard resolutions.

Welp, I must be one of those troubled peeps… Dloaded the latest version, put it in the /apps/ directory, came up in homebrew, launched, but it just goes back to the homebrew screen. Never initializes. Any thoughts? Thanks…

If not it’s a fresh install then delete your old retroarch.cfg file.

Hmm It is a fresh install but I’ll try it again … maybe the .cfg file is somewhere else…

If that doesn’t work, try removing everything from your sd card except the things necessary to run retroarch and homebrew channel.

Thanks guys! From your suggestions it seems to be working now… time for some testing … btw (not sure if i saw it here) is there a N64 core in there that I can use?

Not for Wii, no.

Thanks, do you know off hand which platforms N64 is supported? Just tried to load RA on a PS3 and didnt see any on there. Tks…

Just PC and Android, AFAIK

Am I crazy or was the fast forward feature removed? The c-right button no long fast forwards.

For those with trouble configuring controls in the CPS cores with a single wiimote (no attachments) setup, I’ve uploaded some modified cores here:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/wcgvd6v3qs0v1en/2TK5NPcUHi

They are in the “test cores” folder. The default wiimote controls have been remaped to make some CPS games such as Ghouls and Ghosts playable. This is not a solution, just a temporary fix. I’ve opened an issue in the main repo, so for the time being you can use this ones.

Yeah, I don’t think that will ever change, outside of having Wii64, which hasn’t been updated in nearly two years, and I think we can probably call it dead. It’s a shame, too, the Wii could use another PSX and N64 emulator, but without doing some serious code optimizations, it just ain’t gonna happen.

So what can we expect in the next release? Are the per core configs working properly in the latest builds? Any other notable improvements over 1.0.0.1?

Per core configs are pretty stable, the only issue I’ve encountered is the config in general doesn’t save everything so it’s not yet fully customizable.

Then there’s the overlays which seem to work perfectly. There are more 480 counterparts for the 240p modes, now there’s a total of 34 custom resolutions. (Config doesn’t save them) You can customize ui related functions like “reset game” or “quit RA” to a controller. (This is a really cool feature but is still very restricted because it doesn’t allow mapping for every possible input, e.g. Wii’s reset button)

Is there a reason custom resolutions and other settings aren’t getting saved though, I mean, shouldn’t they be saving when you exit or change cores? That sounds like a bug.

I’ll wait and see what improvements there are before upgrading this time. Per core configs just don’t work for me and if that is still the case and there are no new cores etc., then I’ll probably just stick with 1.0.0.1.

I didn’t even switch to 1.0.1 (I don’t use the affected cores in question), but the per-core config definitely has, uh, some quirks that need looking into it seems. How hard it is to fix something like that is something I can’t fathom.

Looks like the next release will be out in the next couple of days, looking forward to it. Great timing as I finally connected my Wii to the surround sound system, CPS2 games sound absolutely awesome. Retro-tastic!
