RetroGames4K's Mega Bezel screen pics, gameplays & custom settings

Ok… sounds good. I could use that for later systems. Does anyone making these “specialize” in an 80’s look that you know of?

Sorry, I couldn’t tell, I can’t help you in that. :worried:

Many of these consoles were enjoyed in the 80’s and 90’s so it’s possible that folks who make presets might be channelling the 80’s vibe even if they weren’t trying.

I think the best thing you can do is install all of them and try them.

I’ve got quite a number of presets packs with a lot of variety in between. Especially if you have a bright display you’ll be in for a treat but you’ll have to discuss that over at my thread.

@RetroGames4K started off with a very accurate Sanyo CRT Emulation. I wonder if that is still available.

It still available in the last update…

I appreciate that suggestion, but that’s what I’m trying not to do by getting some recommendations. I tend to go down the rabbit hole with this stuff and I have too many projects going on. :grinning:

edit RG4K, I picked up your last pack and I’m looking forward to breaking into it and trying it out.

With complementary gamma I just reverted to default gamma in and out, because after last Guest’s update my settings looked brighter, also had to made changes in colour and brightness a bit.

Updated to Guest’s advanced NTSC Version (2025-01-23-r1)

  • Reverted to default gamma in and out, because with the new complementary gamma, last settings became brighter, I will improve it in a near future.
  • Reverted to default colour and brightness.
  • Lowered vignette strength from 0.25 to 0.10
  • Raised gamma correct from 0.65 to 0.75
  • Tweaked Phase 2 & 3 colour edges a bit.
  • Raised Mask bloom and changed boost bright and dark pixels options to default.

Remember to turn screen notifications off on retroarch, as it tends to bright the image or it looks blurry.

Enjoy!

I love how it looks , screenshots makes the mask weaker than it really looks, playing looks stronger and sharper. I will update my settings later during the day, I really love this last @guest.r update .

These presets look awesome. Are there any optimized for 1440p?

Hi, I’m glad you like it, it’s for 1080p, but I tested it on a mobile phone and it looks great. Try to download a screenshot and watch it on full screen and see how it looks.

For 1440p, just use Mask 10, Size 1 be sure to adjust the Mask Layout RGB/BGR to match your screen.

I’m working quite a bit on deconvergence settings, and this is one of the key for proper image quality as CRT’s have a bit of deconvergence, bu i need to find the proper pattern. I know is not perfect.

I may be wrong, but judging by ken’s protrait, it looks like the high tones are clipping too much.

You can verify by using some test pics like this:

or this, particularly unforgiving, and may expose even display calibration issues.

…click on them, for whatever reason the preview won’t show.

Number 254, doesn’t show on my mobile device, and 253 is barely visible without shaders. ¿Is this normal?

Yes, indeed it is normal, 254 is just 0.4% from white.
