RPI - GBA wont run? - 2600 second gamepad?

Hi all. First time post.

I started playing around with LAKKA around a week ago and so far am very impressed. Its been a bit fiddly and I finally have everything the way that I want it with the exception of 2 things.

I put it all together on my Linux PC and have everything running fine on there. Unfortunately on transferring onto a Raspberry PI (Which was my initial intent) I have found that the GBA roms I have won’t even boot. Everything else is fine (Neo Geo, Handy, 2600, Genisis) but for some unknown reason this core will not even boot on the PI which is strange as its the same fileset running on my PC which runs it fine.

Also reliving the old 2600 days is hampered as it does not seem to recognise the second gamepad. Lakka recognises it in the settings but it doesn’t do anything within the games.

Any ideas on these 2?

Thanks,

Keith.

Hello, for the GBA, you certainly need to put the bios in the system folder. See our documentation about it.

For 2600, I don’t know, I never tested this core that much except launching a rom to check if it runs.

I think Stella indeed has an issue where the second controller doesn’t work. It’s been a low priority issue for some time now, so pull requests are very welcome!

I peeked at it in the past and it looks like everything is hooked up properly, but something is clearly amiss somewhere.

Thanks. I presume that the rom is missing on the RPI Build but included on the x86 build as it was running fine on the pc before i copied it over?? i will double check when i get home to see if it resolves the issue and report back.

Thanks both on the replies.

With STELLA. Shame its the emulator build because the console came into its own with 2 player. Though I suppose thems the apples.

Thanks both again.

Keith.

We never ship copyrighted bios in the OS, this would be illegal. Certainly the core we use on the PC version is different and doesnt require a bios to run.

Right. VBA-Next/M uses an emulated HLE BIOS while gpsp needs an external BIOS image.

Thanks both. Put the ROM in the system folder and now all working great. Did have my reservations on the speed of the Pi model B as you classed it as a C for GBA in the documentation but it runs surprisingly well.

Thanks again. Now reliving a lot of old memories

Ah you’re right. This document is out of date since gpsp is out.
