If runahead is enabled, does it always default to 2 frames if the config is saved? Saving a game-specific override doesn’t seem to make a difference.
check if you have a core override, maybe is set at 2 frames but disabled, so that if you load a game from that core run-ahead is goin to be disable but on enabling it will have 2 frames. this might be an explanation…
