Screenshots of almost all the CG shaders

Hi, I’m new here. The problem with that is, as i’m sure you had in the past, was that finding out what each shader looked like is utter garbage (you know it’s true). Thus, I spent all day today putting together this handy dany rar that has almost every CG shader in it. I don’t have EVERY shader because

  1. i’m not wasting more of my life doing this
  2. Many of them don’t work for me
  3. you smell (just kidding)

So here you are, a way to finally compare all those ungodly amounts of CRT shaders (why, why, WHY). If you have problems with shaders, don’t talk to me. Make a thread explaining it and others who actually know this stuff will help you.

Thanks for sharing this. I had started to do something along the same lines (not saving any pics, but pasting them in paint and then looking at the original screen for reference), so this saves all the hassle of doing that.

I’m happy to hear that. Even if you make the best program in the world, no one will use it if it’s too clunky. Don’t take that as a slight against retroarch, it’s amazing, just it kinda makes one “GAW” when you really want to try something and have to look for guides on how to use it.

I have to say, I love you for doing this largely pointless task, but sticking to it. I feel an almost sadistic urge to point out that some scanlines in crt folder are uneven… but I don’t want to be a cause of a mental breakdown.

The funny thing is I don’t even really use shaders. I’m the type of guy that likes the game to look as clean, hd, and close to the original material as possible; which means that the orginal looks the best to me :S. Basically, I just did it because a lot of other people like to make their games look very different, and it seemed like no one had taken screenshots to help out lately. However, now hunter says they’re already making preview stuff to solve this problem, so it kinda kills me just a tiny bit in side :D. Also yea, I know nothing about shaders, so I probably used stuff on that game that was never meant to be used and it totally doesn’t do them justice. Still, I just hope it helps someone get the general jist if they wanna try them out or not.
