"Size check failed" while manually updating lakka

Hello guys! I am trying to upgrade my “Plug 'n Play lakka stick” manually with instructions from this page. I have followed them correctly but when I boot my usb stick in live mode, this happens:

Found new .tar archive. extracting… Checking KERNEL.md5… /storage/.update/KERNEL: OK Checking SYSTEM.md5… /storage/.update/SYSTEM: OK Checking size: FAILED size check failed. normal startup in 30s…

As you can see, the “Size check” has been failed! :(. And I don’t know what it means by that, is there any problem with my plug n play stick?

Thanks in Advance!

Turns out that I was using a older version of lakka which has 256 MB First Partition, The new version needs a 512 MB First Partition so I would have to resize it or entirely reflash it.

I choose to resize the first partition, I will report back with the results soon!

<kivutar> ok TheDcoder <kivutar> your setup was old <kivutar> with a first partition of 256mb <TheDcoder> oh <kivutar> now that we include more cores <kivutar> we need 512mb <TheDcoder> Do I have to manually increase it? <kivutar> either that, or backup your data and reflash from start <kivutar> but this problem happenned 2 releases ago <kivutar> it’s nothing new <TheDcoder> Resizing is a better option <TheDcoder> thanks kiv <kivutar> resizing should be OK yes <kivutar> it will take some time <TheDcoder> yeah <TheDcoder> I have recently done some resizing and cleaning on my laptop <TheDcoder> and it took 3 hours <TheDcoder> so I have an approximate idea of how long it will take :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for the IRC log buddy :stuck_out_tongue:

Had that also when migrating from OpenElec to LibreElec. Wrote a little tutorial in case that helps: http://www.classicgaming.biz/wordpress/2017/07/18/upgrading-openelec-to-libreelec-check-size-failed-error/

Edit: Updated link due to migration

Thanks for the link joeuser but I have already done that resizing myself using GParted

P.S I had that thing done a few days ago… but I forgot about this thread! joeuser’s subscription email reminded me :stuck_out_tongue:

What’s the size of your first partition? 256 or 512?

If it’s 256, just reinstall all man, it’s too small.

Hey Kivutar, the first partition was 256 MB at the time of creating this thread. I resized it to 512 MB using GParted and it worked… as I said in my previous post

P.S Why necro this thread after 4 months?

Because I don’t know how to use the new forums xD

Uhh… yeah, I was confused at the start too but the date on the email notification helped me lol :stuck_out_tongue:
