[SOLVED] Screen cut off on all sides

Any way of scaling the display via lakka? I’m using a 720p crt with an hdmi to hd component adapter

Edit: A permanent fix for CRT’s is to enter the service menu for the TV itself and manually adjust screen hight/width size and vertical/horizontal positions. note: be careful, you can potentially brick your TV this way. the menu was meant mainly for service repair

You should be able to set a custom viewport in settings > video to match your visible area.

that doesn’t seem to do much?

Set your aspect ratio to ‘custom’ and then those settings will kick in.

That just allows me to change in game offsets from what I can tell? my problem is sytem wide. It’s not a great picture, but I guess it kinda shows whats going on. UI elements in lakka get cut off, as well as in game

It’s obviously not as fancy/pretty, but the RGUI menu (settings > driver > menu) plays nicer with CRTs and should shrink along with the custom viewport/aspect settings.

All that seems to do is make menu text bigger. screen is still cut off on all sides in game and menu. It’s a crt, but its also one of the newer wide screen 720p ones, so fine text isn’t hard to read. custom view port works in game, but since many games use different aspect ratios that leaves me customizing it for basically every game I play. there’s no universal overscan elimination I can do?

No, RetroArch just fills the available screen. The image-adjustment shader includes some zooming/cropping settings that you can play around with but you’re going to have weird scaling issues (uneven pixels, etc.) on a 720p resolution.

FYI, I use RetroArch/Lakka on CRTs with overscan regularly and use RGUI with the custom viewport settings to fine-tune what’s visible, so I’m not sure what’s missing on your end.

I mean it works fine, It just requires A LOT of fine tuning for every single aspect ratio. here’s my 4:3 settings for example

Its a royal pain having to spend 30 min. adjusting these settings every time I want to switch to a game with a different aspect ratio (8:7, 16:9, 3:2 etc)

Did you try to turn on Integer Scale under Menu > Video? I would try this together with Aspect Ratio set to Core Provided or 4:3.

this looks like that your hd component adapter does not match viewable dimensions of your crt(720p crt?), have you tried adjusting controls there instead of messing with RA?

It displays the correct resolution, the TV just has built in over-scan. This is a common thing to deal with in pc gaming on a tv. for the most part any newish tv’s allow you to turn overscan off, but with older tv’s you usually have to set a custom HMDI scale in either amd’s or nvidias control panel. unfortunately in my case, neither the tv or lakka’s software allow for overscan removal, but as pointed out in my update there is (a bit of a hacky) solution for older crt sets
