Some clarification about Cores please

Hi, I’ve been reading around the forum and github and there’s something I don’t understand. I made a fresh install of the latest Lakka from the nighties (2016-05-11 if I’m not wrong), just to avoid using the update assets, etc that I was using (wrongly from what I read, cause the update was picking older things instead of newers), and after the fresh install, when I see the cores, there’s some of them missing, like bnes-mercury, MAME2014, etc… is there any specific reason for that ? Is Lakka/RA dropping them by any reason ? Or just missing…

Also, Thumbails update is not working anymore for me, is it only me ?

Thanks, hope Lakka keeps getting better and better, is really awesome.

Lakka doesn’t package all cores for all devices, IIRC.

The thumbnail server exceeded its bandwidth allocation. It’ll be fixed in time for the next update.

So, if I want to add Lakka the MAME 2014 core (my few roms are set to that version of MAME), is there any way to do it ?

From what we have heard here in the forums and on github, the MAME 2014 core unintentionally disappeared from Lakka during the recent builds and is supposed to reappear soon.

I removed the recent MAME because this core weight almost 100MB and I want to keep the images at a reasonable size.

What game is supported by MAME 2014 that is not playable through FBA or MAME2003?

For me, the answer to that question is Gauntlet Legends, Gauntlet Legacy, and maybe also the Area 51 franchise.

Does a core like MAME 2010 / MAME 0.139 have the same filesize issue as MAME 2014?

Is there some way that additional MAME cores could be made available, but only via copying the Core ourselves in a similar way to how BIOS files are added? Or something like having the Lakka system download and compile the Core via SSH? That way only people who have a need and a willingness to customize would be affected by the larger file size of the additional MAME core.
