Some ROMs Work, Some Don't (by System)

  1. Used WinSCP to put roms in appropriate directories
  • In Lakka, went to Scan Directory -> ROMS directory -> Scan This Directory
  • Waited a while for it to scan all
  • Attempted to play a few games

I found that a sampling from the following systems worked just fine:

  • Atari 5200
  • Atari 7800
  • TurboGrafx16
  • Game Boy Advance
  • Game Boy Color
  • Game Boy
  • SNES
  • Virtual Boy
  • Sega 32x
  • Sega Gamegear
  • Sega Master System
  • Sega Genesis
  • Neo Geo Pocket

While none of the roms would work for the following systems:

  • N64 (black screen crash to Lakka flower back to GUI)
  • NES (“Failed to load content”)
  • DOSBox (black screen crash to Lakka flower back to GUI)

And also the following systems did not even appear in the menu:

  • Gamecube
  • Wii
  • PS2
  • Atari 2600

So, I guess, the question is: What am I doing wrong? Is there something small that I missed, somewhere?

Thanks for your help, in advance.

N64 is a finicky one and can be hard to get working. DOSBox core has a lot of issues, as well. NES should be fine, though. Which core were you trying to use?

PS2 isn’t going to show up because we don’t have a core for it. Gamecube/Wii will probably show up sometime but not yet because our dolphin core is very preliminary right now. Dunno why Atari 2600 didn’t show up.

I did a fresh install, and only put back on it the systems that you say should work. Still, 2600 doesn’t show up, and NES won’t load.

Klif Sad.

NES should be fine, though. Which core were you trying to use?

Also, can you get us a log of a failed NES load?

On version 2.0 stable (x64 bit on a PC in EFI mode) I’ve been able to play Atari 2600 games without issue. What file extension are your ROMS? Mine are .bin files. So far I’ve not had any issues playing any of them.

The core only appears once I scan and find a .bin file in a directory.
