Of course I cooked my own variations as a base for general use, leaving some room for easy tuning. That capture seems more on the NMC SOFT side, maybe the COMPONENT preset.
I suggest you to build your simple preset starting from one of my faux or even better integer preset to prevent artifacts with strong scanlines, and then proceed with your own customizations. This way you will inherit all of my features/scenarios and get that extra mile without hassle.
As @Duimon said, your capture feels pretty similar to the CRT MASK type 8, simulating a Trinitron aperture grille, you may like a darker mask. You may have to play a little for stronger SCANLINES, at the price of some brightness loss. Also if you like that TV-like visual, enable a little of DECONVERGENCE.
For more info about customization procedures you can refer to my documentation! Have fun
Yup, problem is by using your presets the user will give up on my project custom features, including a ton of layered/toggleable visual tricks applied to:
All around the tube -> original scenarios and artworks
Over the tube -> advanced ambient/device lightning
Tube itself -> position, zoom, aspect ratio
Inside the tube -> shaders for cables/signal, temperature, sharp/soft/smooth, per device crt-mask as irl counterparts
There are literally LOADS of threads about CRT shaders on Libretro forums debating about micro-tuning almost everything, truth is we need flexibility because no general formula stays written in stone for more than a month, sometimes weeks.
I think @kongmao45678 was politely asking how to get that particular look in this thread 'cause he wanted to use TheNamec Retropack set and features. Pointing him to use something else while weāre telling him how to customize to his own tastes feels pretty out of topic to me.
I think @TheNamec explained pretty clearly why he felt like it was off topic.
Also his pack now contains a choice between a number of carefully crafted CRT looks, so suggesting someone use another preset for the CRT look is directing them away from using this package.
Since this is his thread I think we should respect his wishes.
I downloaded the latest version, and loading one of these shaders just makes Retroarch crash. I have no problem with version 3 presets or the default Mega Bezel presets.
EDIT: I checked and still have RA 1.10. Maybe I should update to the latest RA+Mega Bezel packsā¦
Ok, just did it. I have to say Iām incredibly impressed by the work ever since I saw your presets last time.
Last time it was a nice curiosity, but not enough to change from the regular Megabezel presets. This time the composite, S-Video and RGB presents are incredible and look very authentic indeed.
Only Issue is that the zoom/crop doesnāt fit as well as the normal Mega Bezel presets. I have the crop feature on the core settings as automatic, and even so, using either the NEAR or Full Device settings, still give me a bit of a border.
One observation. The Commodore monitors bezels (such as the 1084S) give a different shader image for the same shader (eg. Soft_Composite) compared to the other bezels (such as the computers or Neon/Stucco bezels).
The 1084 gives a less vibrant image with a stitchy texture. I zoomed in the viewport as to be equivalent to the other bezel, and the image is still significantly different. I donāt know if this is intentional or not.
Iām a novice in the āCRT shaderā branch of the Mega Bezel, but it looks like I can push some eyecandies beyond overlays! One thing is sure: tuning params can be way more time-consuming than actually drawing assets!
Yup, NEAR presets should be reformulated as the ones with the largest playable area, while FULL should be the āscenographicā ones with the whole display visible.
Also, NEAR should keep the same size/position across all displays. In current version they are manually tuned to āshow some borderā, but I donāt like the variable final results determined by artifacts and changes in general brightness because of tube size.
Nonetheless, I noticed itās more comfortable to the eyes when the reflective part of the bezel keeps some room from the border of your real monitor. Is it subjective?
Btw nice point, Iāll double think about it and possibly straighten visuals.
Customized NMC Shaders are globally applyed āaboveā all monitor/tvs , as they simulate the cable/connection step.
Different displays also have their own crt-mask, current RC4 works as follows:
Commodore displays use a ācommodore slot-maskā profile
Philips TV uses a āconsumer slot-maskā profile
Commodore c1201 uses a āmonochrome plasmaā profile
Dynamic bezels use a āgeneric aperture-grilleā profile
That said, at this point the C1084S should be no different to the C1084 as long as you use the same shader. I plan to do this in the future, but itās not implemented yet.
Can you please take screenshots for me to compare? It would be better to use the INTEGER profile so we have no brightness loss because of different framing/curvature.

I did not explain myself properly. I should have mentioned the C1084 only, not the S model (i mixed them up). It was the only commodore i tried and was comparing it to the generic TV bezels. It was the monitor I had growing up, so itās the one I wanted to try most.
If itās on purpose and different displays have their own crt-mask, then cool, iāll try some more. Havenāt tried the phillips yet.
Just one opinion. The Commodore 1084 colour balance still looks wrong. The colours look very dull. For example the title screen on Turrican 2 has a dull orange collor when it should be brighter reddish. I was thinking maybe I was wrong about my memories, but thereās plenty of videos on youtube, and the monitor had indeed some vivid colours:
Youāre in good company, that was my monitor on Amiga500 and I love it.
I suspect color dull-ification may be a consequence of āwarm temperatureā post-processing. We got an easy way to test this out.
Go to the RES folder, youāll find a file called OVERRIDES.PARAMS. Comment out the TEMPERATURE WARM 6800k, this will disable temperature correction across all presets.
Let me know if it solves! Otherwise, itās time to do add a āvibrantā preset to the catalogue.
1) WHDLoad / .lha. Previously I had old versions of the games, all floppy disks files separately & manually swapping them in retroarch. But with lha it is a night and day difference. Recently got a nice 2gb library with latest versions.
2) Advanced Graphics Architecture (AGA) - some of the games have AGA version with more colours on the screen. Just wowā¦ Chaos Engine v2.1 AGA looks stunning to me.
3) A500 mini (shame itās not official āAmigaā - copyright issues?). I know, without Mega Bezel itās not the same but hey, if I can load my own library and plug to tv then why not. They might release large amiga (not 500) with working keyboard depending on sales of A500 mini. Imma sucker for that mouse/joypad - do you use yourself a joystick/pad for amiga games?
Thanks for all the work guys!!! Itās only some shaders on modern machineā¦ but I act like a genuine kid while on it. "Itās Still Real To Me Damn It!"
Ahahah thatās the whole point! For 98% itās mr. @HyperspaceMadness fault, he dragged us into this vortex of fun
Consider WHDLoad project packages sometimes include much desired tweaks, like adding better controls or using more than a button in games that were never intended for that!
Imagine playing your favourite platform with an actual JUMP BUTTON instead of frantically smashing UP UP UP on the joystick. P-UAE gracefully supports Amiga CD32 gamepad, so you will great benefit from enhanced controls!
Yep Iām the happy owner of a heavy modified Mayflash fightstick, took out Sanwa buttons and added coloured Seimitsu with clicky switches, custom red ball on top and a fine 8-way gate inside.
I was going to get me one of these too but endet up getting The 8bitdo one and modified this ( selling arcade sticks without clicky switches should be a sin) ^^
Dont know if it is ok to post it here. Guys, were you able to make your thumbnails work in retroarch amiga library? Any tips? I only have list of games, downloadimg thumbs via retroarch does nothing (most likely due to the name of games that i have as these display the versions of the games in name). Any way to solve this?
