Trying out lakka

hi im trying out lakka, a couple questions:

  1. how can i get network play going with retroarch? it seems on the lakka docs it says it can. i understand you need the same cores and roms. but can someone explain this in a lil more technical manner? like same exact version of cores? download a core from one place then place in both retroarch and lakka? or… what are the underlying technical bits that determine the “implementation” so that they can communicate? (besides same exact rom set)

  2. not all roms are being listed as playable when searching folder and turning up under certain cores only? is this due to the hashes of said roms? i do have and have used in the past clrmamepro if this step is neccessary? thanks.

Hi,

Please check those two videos How to Host Netplay Sessions and Join Netplay Session.

Please read this documentation about roms scanning and playlist generation and especially about Arcade.

Thank you.

thanks for your reply, the info about the roms and sets is useful makes sense.
i still need a lil more info about the netplay if i could.
i have gotten the netplay to work between my tablet (android version of retroarch) and
my pc (retroarch) via LAN no problem. (same retroarch versions)
but i had problems with an install of retropi connecting to either or vice verse. (server / client)
and my retropi install had same version of retroarch as tablet and pc.
and same problem with Lakka connecting to pc or tablet.
and the error i get is different implementations.
so to try to simplify my Q here...
what constitutes the right implementations?

im assuming the roms have to be the exact.
other than that, what is the criteria?
same retroarch / Lakka versions?
obvious same cores as in for example: mame2003 , mame2003
but, do those two mame2003's need to be the exact same version aswell? (version meaning same file or build)
and anything else you could provide could help, thanks again.
bear in mind im ruling out network issues, as im only using this over LAN which doesnt seem to require
port forwarding even.
so ruling out network stuff, simple list of criteria to get up and running? thanks again.

Check your Netplay settings on your PC and tablet and make sure they match the ones on your Lakka and other units. Netplay, even on LAN, can be finicky when it comes to other devices on the network accessing each other.
