Trying to get Lakka to run on Emachinges t3882, white background white letters

Hello all,

Im new to this so I apologize for anything odd. I have been an avid gamer for years, and know enough about computers to get myself going and do more than most(or into trouble!) and I was given an old Emachines t3882 for free. I came across an article about Lakka by accident and have been trying to get it running for a while now. I first tried on the nightly build on 12/7. The build loaded and ran but it comes up with a white background, white letters, and a slightly off white icon for each menu. I cant read anything. Just pushing buttons I managed to get the game 2048 to play. I have tried reloading with the 2 newest nightly builds but they will not even begin to start the installer or run live, they freeze at the lakka logo and go no further. Reinstalled the 12/7 build and it loads but still has the white background, white letter situation. I have since put it on an old laptop (Acer Aspire 5315) and with the newest nightly build loaded and worked great. I really wanted to just get this desktop going for the fun of it. Any ideas how to change the background color? Or any other ideas? Thanks for the help

Travis

You have an old nvidia gpu in there, by chance? If so, it’s a known issue, unfortunately. Your best bet is to switch to the GLUI menu, I think, which doesn’t look as nice but is just as functional.

It says there is Intel Extreme Graphics 2. I assume that it is integrated graphics based on that. Is this a known issue as well? If a GLUI is the only option, how would I go about setting that up?

Ah, yeah, it’s usually reported with old nvidia but someone recently mentioned the same issue with that IGP, as well, I think.

Regardless, if you edit your retroarch.cfg with a text editor, you can change menu_driver = “xmb” to “glui” and if that doesn’t work, try “rgui”.

The latest nightly builds with the new kernel and nouveau driver fixed this issue on at least one card. It’s worth trying it. If you still get the white background, please switch to glui as hunterk said. Until we find a fix.
