Hi @Hyllian I hope everything is okay. version 0.3.4 is not on github, right? I found this latest version on Mega, and I just want to confirm that it’s the latest available so I can run some tests.
Hi, I’m fine, thanks. The 0.3.4 I posted earlier is the latest. It has a minor update only, so I didn’t make a new release on github. I’m taking a break on development for some time. The last three months were very intensive, so I’m a bit tired. I think the status for uborder is ok now and I don’t see many changes in the future.
Ok
Thanks for your reply
I found working a lot on the presets and shaders can get a little taxing as well. I have slowed a little bit on them as anybody can see as well. Working on a few different things.
Yeah, it’s understandable. To be honest any kind of computer work eventually gives me what I call “config fatigue”.
At least for me, when tinkering too much it becomes a chore, and I end up “doing the chore” instead of playing the games! Like it’s easy to get carried away with improving the experience, and one forgets to have the experience.
This shader you made is really amazing. It works perfectly so far, greatly accelerating the loading speed of the reflection shader and lowering the usage threshold! But I found in the latest version 0.3.3, the three crt-guest-advanced filters in uborder\base_presets\uborder-koko-ambi\uborder-koko-ambi-crt-guest-advanced.slangp fail to load on both PC and Android devices. When you have time, could you please check it out? Also, my RA has been updated to the latest version 1.20.0.Thank you very much!
By the way, I found uborder\base_presets\uborder-koko-ambi\uborder-koko-ambi-crt-guest-advanced.slangp of version 0.3.1 works fine.
Make sure you’re using the latest guest shaders (only available in his thread). The one that comes with Retroarch is ancient and incompatible with uborder.
I am quite sure that I am using the latest guest shaders version. For testing, I placed both the 0.3.3 and 0.3.1 versions from GitHub into the same RetroArch, and the RetroArch version I downloaded is 1.20.0. The only difference is, for the 0.3.1 version , I added the suffix " 0.3.1".
Well, I just downloaded Retroarch 1.20.0, uborder-0.3.3 and latest guest’s pack (from 2025-03-30 in his thread). Unpacked all three and installed from the instructions and everything is working here, even all guest shaders.
You should recheck if you have latest guest shaders installed.
Thanks a lot ! I will recheck my settings later
Just redownload and reinstall them from here. Make sure you understand the correct folder structure.
Thanks!!! I have updated my CRT Guest shader to the newest version(2025-03-30 release), then 0.3.3 verison uborder works fine now!
The screenshots don’t show how I actually see it.
I’ll just say that I love Uborder.
Wow, what a great depth!
Thanks for your great work Koko Ambilight.
Yeah, been down that road before. Try to take some high quality pics.
I’m starting to work on uborder again. I made some source updates today. Firstly, I’m updating the default curvature radius from 4.0 to 6.0, as I noticed that real curved CRTs weren’t as exaggerated as I thought in how curved the games were presented.
Secondly, I updated the crt-nobody and crt-hyllian-sinc base presets and shaders with their new mask advances, which increase contrast to an incredible level. Some screens below (I had to reduce the shine and ambient light so as not to cut off some white areas):
Just for comparison, these DKC screenshots were taken using the old crt-nobody (with shine and ambient off and on. Notice the new crt-nobody screenshot above was taken with shine and ambient light off!):
