If you have to have a limit on your budget you can forget asking this question: http://www.lakka.tv/doc/Hardware-support/

“Conclusion: If you want to build the ultimate emulation console with no care for money, choose PC.”

However…if you want to be able to support the upcoming Dolphin core at full speed (and therefore, everything else at full speed), given your parameters, you’re going to have to increase your budget. Slightly. Not by much though.

For Lakka, I’d say, for your budget: Dell Optiplex Desktop snagged off of eBay or Craig’s List without the HDD (use a SSD), Intel i5 2nd or 3rd gen, 3.0 GHz, 4 GB of RAM and you should be alright. Intel HD graphics preferred. Prices on CL run about $100-150 for one, and that’s US dollars (even cheaper on Euro).

just thinking in the xeons that appear so cheap.

the budget can be increased , this is just curiosity, what would you suggest with no care for money?

i own 2 lakka machines based on pc (1 old netbook and 1 old desktop(this one runs almost everything to ps1)).

i wouldn’t mind to build the ultimate lakka machine (400€ i think would be sufficient), can i use your expertise to point me to the right directions???

(not spending money in things not needed )

thank you

I run Lakka on a Zotac Mini PC (id68 plus) with 8gb ram and a 240gb SsD that ran me about $600 canadian and so far has been near flawless. It runs everything up to N64 perfectly fine and I am just about to start testing PS1 games which I assume shouldn’t have an issue either. PC is near silent and even looks nice sitting in the TV stand with a dim blue light on top.

i can highly recommend

ASROCK DeskMini 110 (Mini-STX Case+MB - sized like a ATX PSU - smaller than a Gamecube)

  • Skylake or Kabylake CPU (i use a low end Pentium G4500) +Noctua NH-L9i CPU Cooler

My Lakka-System on this basis is VERY quiet and most cores run just great on it

I’m using a custom built pc that I was using as a VM host. It has an i7-2600s with 16GB of RAM. It’s in a very small (Very small) case. I use an external power supply with it. The whole thing maybe costed $300-ish. You could probably get that price down by not doing 16GB and using an i7.
