Unable to run any games using xmb menu driver on RPi2

I am using the WIP build for the Raspberry Pi 2. In the default “Lakka” menu driver, all is well. However, if I switch to the “xmb” menu driver (which offers a great many more menu options), I am unable to run any games on any core.

I can pick the game from the list (B button by default on the 360 controller) but pressing B again on the “Run” option does nothing. No button does anything at that point except A to back up in the menu.

Am I missing something here?

I checked on the latest build, the XBox306 works just fine on the RPi2. So I think there is something wrong on your side.

Is your controller official?

Yes, it is the official wireless Microsoft Xbox 360 controller for Windows, with the official proprietary dongle (not one of the knockoffs).

It works perfectly for all functions as far as navigating menus in xmb, and all buttons/sticks/d-pads are recognized if I go to “bind all.” UNTIL I get to the point of launching a game, at which point no button input will actually launch it. It just sits there on the “Run” menu option until I go back.

The controller also works perfectly in every way while using the “lakka” menu driver, but of course this driver is much more limited in terms of the settings which can be changed, so I wanted to use the “xmb” driver instead.

Further investigation:

If I go through the “Load Content” option for a particular core and select a ROM, I can run games this way.

However, I cannot run any games simply by selecting them from the list under their respective emulator core in the main menu, as is the norm with the “lakka” menu driver. Trying to select the “Run” option produces no result. The only thing you can do is back up in the menu (green “A” button on the 360 controller by default).

Bump. So, any further advice on this?

Actually today Lakka is just rebooting itself most of the time when I try to run games even using the “lakka” driver… games that ran perfectly fine just a couple days ago.

Think I am going to reflash once and if that does not improve things give RetroPie a try.

That’s very strange… I’m testing it right know and for me it works well

Can you try upgrading Lakka to the latest nightly build?
