Unsteady sound and fps in SNES games with Lakka on Raspberry Pi 3

Hi there,

I tried to run Lakka on a Raspberry Pi 3 to play some old SNES games. The Pi is connected to my TV via HDMI. Everything worked fine, until I started the first game: As soon as I hit a button on my controller (XBOX 360 Wireless), e.g. walking around in Chrono Trigger, the overall game speed increases, FPS rises to up to 120, sounds gets screechy and high pitched.

I used the latest Lakka version. After that I tried, how the latest Retro Pi version runs: it works without any issues. Game speed, sound, FPS - all fine. Still, I would prefer to get Lakka running because of its awesome user interface  Any suggestions on what may cause these issues?

Cheerio, benzin

Sounds like you’re losing vsync. Did you hit the spacebar (default mapping for vsync toggle) by chance? Regardless, you can go into settings > frame throttle and set maximum run speed to 1.0. This will make it so you can’t fast-forward anymore but it will also make the games run at the correct speed.

No keyboard connected, so no to the spacebar. Vsync is enabled in the menu… But I’ll try frame throttle.

Hey there,

thanks for your comment again. I did not find the frame throttle setting, but yet your comment on the spacebar kept me thinking and I investigated further. I found out, the fast forward toggle was simply attached to the B-Button on my xbox 360 controller  Actually quit easy to figure out, but it took me some moments

thanks for your assistance!

Cheerio

oh lol, yeah, that’ll do it!

I’m glad you got it figured out
