Unusually slow emulation

Basic summary: the problem is that the emulation is unusually slow i would understand if the performance was that bad but my performance is listed below

Specs: CPU:Intel pentium dual core @2.20Ghz GPU:on-board intel GMA 950 Ram:3.5GB this is a slighty modified stock Dell dimension 5150 YERSH TEH BERRY ACHIENT MACHINERURY

That should cover everything but PSP full speed, hmm. Are there certain consoles or games that play slow, or all of them, on down to Atari 2600?

Umm it just happens on N64(Mupen64) ive only used N64 and GBA and GBA is fine

In that case, the GMA 950 may not be enough to handle N64. Have you tried the Retro Arch on the same hardware under Windows also, just to compare?

Meh thought so the ATI Raedon Graphics it came with died so i might aswell buy a dirt cheap on like the one that came with it cause that one could handle NFS MW 2005

Mind you, that’s just a guess, I could be wrong. It might be a bug with the port of the emulator too. Those 950’s were pretty impressive for what they were, so who knows, in time this may change. I’ve an old Pentium 4 machine with a similar chip set on board, but I couldn’t even get N64 to run until I dropped my low end, fanless NVIDIA GeForce GT 430 into it. now it does everything it should, at least with the more stable releases of Retroarch, so I know this distro will catch up. ,

I found a Zotac ZBOX ID41 PLUS, fully loaded for $80 shipped, should be in this week. From what I’ve read up on them, they are perfect for this sort of thing and intend to use it as a low cost replacement for my current tower solution.

i put a ATI Raedon X600 and now some of the stuff wont render all other emulators are fine

X600 is super-old and doesn’t support new enough opengl to handle any libretro-gl cores, I think.

I have tested the following with great results. GeForce GT 430, GeForce 9800Gt+, and the Nvida graphics built into my Precision M4400. Mind you though, I could not just swap a drive with a working install from system to system, or pop out cards, for what ever reason I had to do fresh istalls in order to get the cards working with PSP and or N64.

I also have an old 3.0 Ghz P4 with a 400Mhz FSB, 512Mb RAM, and built in Intel GFX. It could do most things, even play PSP in software mode, though once you stated a level of a game, it would slow down. N64 I could not get to work, everything else did.

EDIT: Though, if I put the GeForce GT 430 (low end, not even a fan) on the P4 system, PSP works it should. Though I have noticed that some games work on one machine and not on another, no matter the Nvidia card it seems, it’s odd.

My Zotac ZBOX ID41 PLUS arrived in the mail today, I am currently running various tests on it, starting with Windows then eventually KodiUbuntu, Openelec, and of course Lakka!

With the Zotac, I’m in the same boat strangly enough so I began this thread, maybe it will help sort things out: http://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2341&goto=newpost
