Updating Cores Only?

Is it possible to update cores and not the whole system. I’m running OpenElec 64bit (I can’t run LibreElec on the system without a dedicated GPU) on a A10 5800k CPU with 8 Gigs or RAM.

Sorry, we don’t support this upgrade scenario.

Why is LibreELEC incompatible with your GPU?

For some reason the LibreElec builds does a boot loop right before it reaches the splash screen. Maybe its my motherboard (MSI A88X-G45 GAMING)? I’ve tried everything to try to get it working without a dedicated GPU. Or maybe it hates APUs. IDK

And what if you setup the OpenELEC version of Lakka, then upgrade to the LibreELEC version of Lakka, by droping the tar in the update folder and rebooting?

Tried that and I get the rolling reboot just the same.

Ok then, setup Lakka-OE, and copy the cores of Lakka-LE in /storage/cores and done.

Is it possible to get graphic card log ?

Thank you.

The dedicated GPU I have is a Radeon HD 4550. Thats is not in the system.

I would also like to mention that the only way I could even install 64bit OpenElec is I had to put 32bit on USB and install it that way, then upgrade to 64bit. Putting 64bit OpenElec/LibreElec on USB will cause rolling reboot.

You card Radeon HD 7660D should be supported by the radeon driver.

Can you boot by adding those parameters to cmdline ?

live nosplash debugging textmode

You should boot to a terminal and then try to get some lakka system log.

Thank you.

I added the parameters but how do I make a log file from it? It goes too quickly for me to even read it then it reboots.

EDIT: It never boots to a terminal. It says “Loading KERNEL” a large amount of text pops up then reboots.

Photo right before it restarts.

Let me be clear, I had to pull the GPU info from OpenElec because LibreElec wont boot without a dedicated GPU. The only way I can boot into LibreElec is with the dedicated GPU.

The only issue I remember about reboot was fixed by updating syslinux to a newer version. But what is strange is that f you put a dedicated GPU it is working …

So what can I do to fix it?

We can try to provide a testing image with an updated syslinux version but I am not sure it will fix your issue.

I can test it. Anything that will help figure this out.

Can you try this image, if you reproduce your issue ?

Thank you.

Nope, same issue. Tried with legacy and UEFI, no luck.

Nothing happens, same rolling reboot. The new image doesnt even get to “Loading KERNEL” (maybe it does but it doesnt say it?). I wish you had the same hardware so it would be easier to debug =(. I even updated the bios last night from 1.5 to 1.9 hoping it would fix it but nadda.

Thank you so much for putting in the time into helping me. Very kind sir.
