Virtual Boy color change shader!

Thought I might contribute with something in return for all your help and giving me RetroArch.

This is a modified older shader from Harlequin presented to me by hunterk. It’s modified so you can easily change colors in the Virtual Boy core simply by changing palettes.

These are just a couple of palettes, some made by Harlequin and some made by me:

This is how it looks when applied:

Everything that is needed is attached in this post, it’s never been easier to change colors in Virtual Boy so enjoy!

Ah, yeah, looks nice and easy! Thanks for sharing :slight_smile:

You’re quite welcome!

palette1 and palette3 tries to mimic Game Boy Light screen colors, palette2 tries to mimic Game Boy Pocket screen colors and palette4 tries to mimic the SGB colors for Super Mario Land 3 - Wario Land which I thought was appropriate. As for the rest they came along with the original shader package.

Users can easily change palette colors to their liking, and I found it easier to experiment by using the emulator bgb and it’s GB Color options and then use Paint to create new palettes from the values of bgb.

Damn, I really needed this shader now today! Why isn’t the attachment showing up?

@hunterk

Am I out of luck here?

Hmm, i think so :frowning:

You should be able to use the reshade/lut shader to do the same thing, though.

Thanks for your reply hunterk!

I actually managed to replicate the whole thing by finding this particular thread, Virtual Boy Shader Ideas

You linked to a super old version of harlequin’s shader in that thread and by using that package and removing all passes except gb_pass_0.cg and remove 2 lines of code in gb_pass_0.cg it worked perfectly again.

So now I can change palettes and colors easily in SameBoy without having the grids, just a clean image.

If anyone want this I could upload it, just give me a hollar if you are interested but it’s cg/cgp only though.
