I understand that what Lakka does is create a simplistic, locked down, linux disto that is not only the easiest to install OS in the world, but also the easiest to use; once you got your rom and system files in place and joypad configured that is. In short, it is a means to convert any Pi like device, big box, or the new thin client PC’s into a retro gaming console that acts like a gaming console rather than a PC. Beyond the quest to improve upon emulation, joystick, and USB stick support, what is the goal of this project, and is the focus going to be to support those cores that the Pi2 can handle, are are the cores that a mid ranged to high end PC going to be supported as well?
Beyond this, I heard that Lakka is going to be included with XBMC at some point. Does that mean that the two will be merged, or that one will be accessible from within the other?
I am instantly a huge fan of projects such as this as in today’s world where computers of varying strengths can be built to fit within the palm of our hand. This allows for us to have the ability to create our own game systems, something that does not feel like you are using a computer, or needs to be configured once everything has been initially been set up. What a great gift for family and friends!
As a matter of fact I ordered a Zotac Thin Client with Nvidia on board, just because of Lakka. I’m am wondering though, might there also come a day where Lakka also includes Steam so you could also use it as a Steambox, not to mention media station and retro jukebox.
